I'm going to the Grizzlies game on Friday.
It’ll Buster’s first home game as a Grizzlie and my first chance to see him play. We’ve got good tickets too. Row 7, straight behind the plate.
Neal is
god good
Congratulations and Thank you Jonathan Sanchez.

Step 1: Promote Neal to AA
Step 2: Promote EME to AAA
Step 3: Release Joe Borchard, who is absolutely useless
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit

Borchard is useless.
Also, when is Xavier Nady coming back from injury? We could use him.

He's a Nady
But he knows what we’re about,
and he can take what we dish out,
and that’s not easy
Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...
borchard
hits enough dingerz, I bet the Fresno loyal fans like him. He was acquired soon after Scott McClain went to Japan. Timpner should be released.

no need to get rid of OF depth, we don’t have much of it in the upper minors
Brand new adoptive daddy for the Big Unit. Congrats go out to my son for his 300th win. Only 211 more wins until he catches Cy Young!
by Speedforthewin on Jul 21, 2009 11:06 AM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, but with six OFers on the big club, who needs depth? The Giants could play a doubleheader and start two completely different outfields in the same game.
Borchard, Timpner, whatever. Neal up and EME up is the point. And acquire Xavier Nady whenever he’s healthy.

Grizz won
The Grizzlies won 6-2; nice to see Gerald get multiple hits; Peguero is hitting well; Noonan is hopefully working his way out of his long slump; Neal is continuing to deal as is Roger.
i watched a replay of an sj giants game from a few weeks back
and kieschnick’s approach at the plate really reminded me of schierholtz. Is this a legitimate comparison?

Velez continues to get lots of playing time
I wonder if it is a showcase for a trade throw-in? Or to see if he develops into something. Maybe both.

I am guessing Velez's value is pretty low..
Velez is a decent to good player at the AAA level. Plus they don’t have any other viable options that Velez is blocking. EME is the only one I can think of.
Wilber Bucardo: Carlos Silva with a younger brother.
I’m thinking the organization thks of him as little more than roster filler at this point.

Ishikawa, let the boy hit against lefties.

I think you’re right, but only because he is a terrible fielder.
I would bet that another team would take a flyer on him, though, because there is always a team that will believe they can teach Velez not to suck.

Best way to showcase Velez...
…would be to keep him on the bench.

I was thinking they might make a distinction between players and pitchers, but if not, then both those guys should get their props as well.

MiLB.com picks a position player and a pitcher for each org. Buster is clearly the top hitting prospect, but considering where Neal was at the beginning of the year and what he’s doing now, I think that puts him in the discussion for post-season awards.
