I don’t think the Padres approach against Sanchez is ideal for the type of pitcher he is.

edgardo alfonzo
GREATEST FREE AGENT SIGNING IN THE LAST 10 YEARS?
I love that Edgardo played all those years with the Mets and still told him to sign with the Giants. If he was with the Mets I would be suicidal
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
How did that work, though? Who signs with a team just because a player from his country tells him to?
Adoptive parent of Noah Lowry.
:-(
I would think going to live in a foreign country as a young person, you’d want to sign with the most supportive organization.
I'd definitely get that
But it’s not like Alfonzo was a big part of the organization. He was just a rental player, and it was clear that he wasn’t going to still be around when Pablo comes up.
Adoptive parent of Noah Lowry.
:-(
but maybe he told Pablo, “they treat you right, they’ve got good coaches/programs/etc”
There’s still racism in sports, and I’d imagine some cities/organizations are better than others…
I guess, though, again, I don’t really know what Alfonzo could have known about the Giants’ programs, how they treat their minor leaguers, etc.
Adoptive parent of Noah Lowry.
:-(
