Are the M’s at least paying Yuni’s salary? This is a pretty bad trade. He can play with Willie again!
I believe so, but even still it’s an awful trade.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
RLOLYALS
Adopted Giant Darren "Speedy" Ford. Said by Andrew Baggarly to be the fastest minor league player and the best defensive outfielder in the Giants Organization. Now playing for your San Jose Giants.
I can top that!!
The Mets just traded Ryan Church and cash for J. Francouer.
No, really.
No, really, I have updated my blog this year: http://skaldheim.livejournal.com/tag/baseball
I just saw that and laughed again.

i think Royals trade is worse
when you factor in the contract
Francoeur has been one of the worst players in baseball the last two years. He has 12 walks in over 300 at bats this season, and seems to have lost his power. Omar Minaya is like Brian Sabean before Sabean finally opened his mind. He has no regard for on base percentage, and doesn’t care about his farm system, which might be the worst in baseball.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
I would have traded Lewis for Francoeur – he would have at least been a good platoon partner in our outfield. He also has a cannon for an arm.
Lewis is twice the player Francoeur is, even right now.
"he walked 18; new league record! Struck out 18, another new league record! He also hit the sportswriter, the PA announcer, the bull mascot twice..."

As a starter or full time player you are probably right. But I have the feeling that ship has sailed for Fred Lewis in a Giants uniform, and he has 0 value to us rotting on the bench. Francoeur on the other hand could start against lefties (where his numbers are much better) and he would be a low-cost way to balance out our outfield
No
No Fuck no.

I wouldn’t take Frenchy for free.

Fuck Juan Uribe.
I would have taken him for free
and then traded him to the Mets for Ryan Church…

Haha
True, very true.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
Fuck Juan Uribe. Dios es grande.
Has Sabean really opened his mind regarding OBP? He’s been an OK GM the last few years, but he still seems to love hacky players.

nah. The Giants preach swinging at everything.

I just read the post on LL and died laughing. Why I don’t hang out there more often is beyond me.

Smart, funny, and cruel when necessary. I love it.

Fuck Juan Uribe.
Remember in the offseason when there were “rumors” or speculation or whatever of a Greinke-for-Francoeuer deal? If those rumors weren’t true, Moore should have sued for libel. Everything he’s done since makes me suspect they just might have been true.

The first comment in the Royals blog sums thing up pretty well.
From KLAW:
Betancourt does nothing well on a baseball field. He can’t hit and has lost bat speed since reaching the majors. He hacks at everything he sees, and even swings at pitches thrown to other hitters. He has next to no range at short. And he never hustles on anything — not balls hit in his direction, not ground balls he might have a chance to beat out (well, before he let himself go physically). Other than all that, he’s Honus Wagner.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Kansas City Royals!

"For two minor-league pitchers?" said outfielder José Guillen, who spent 2007 with the Mariners. "Are you serious? How weird is that? I’m totally surprised. That’s all I can tell you. I’m shocked. That kid is pretty darn good."

Just think how shocked he’ll be when he’s traded (along with cash considerations) for two even-lower minor leaguers.

it’s amazing how little major league baseball players seem to know about their own game. Brian Schneider of the Mets said about Francoeur, “he’s a good hitter and he knows how to get on base in all different ways.” I guess that explains the on base percentage of .280!
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
well, he can swing and miss at wild pitches not even nate will swing at, and k. With his speed, that’s an OB ability…..

…anymore. I might have thought he was, or at least top 3, for a spell there. So did he change? or did I? I don’t know.

Ha, right. I wanted to say he might have been the worst (in my mind) but I never put him ahead of/behind those two.

As Bad a Deal as...
Neifi Perez for Jermaine Dye? There was another team involved but that is what it boiled down to for the Royals. Was that the same GM?

I heard a lot of good things about Dayton Moore when he became the Royals GM, but good God he has made some awful moves

I remember reading an article a few years ago in Sports Illustrated or Sporting News that said that Betancourt could be the next Omar Vizquel. Ummmm… right.

In a way Yuni was the M’s LeMaster but without the work ethic. And were LeMaster actually got better after a couple season Yuni just seemed to get dumber and dumber. Knowing all this he was on my short list of " Encase Renerria breaks and and Uribe is otherwise in use then …" mainly because it should have only taken a bucket of warm spit to get him. The fact Z got anything for Yuni is like the Giants getting Davis on the Matt Morriss.
That’s it! Katie bar the door for this 79 win team is star crossed! And I am loving it.
