I knew Manuel would take Werth
I mentioned it as a joke in one of yesterday's eight Game Day Threads, but Charlie Manuel actually took Jayson Werth over Pablo Sandoval to replace Carlos Beltran.
Commence bitching.

All three outfielders for the Phillies are in the game, which is tough to stomach.
What the Giants have to do is win the Series next year and stock next year’s NL All-Stars with Giants. That’s the only logical solution to this.

Jeez
I live in the Philly area (and my wife is a crazy Phillies fan), and until now I’ve always sort of half-heartedly rooted for Philadelphia as long as they weren’t playing the Giants.
But this whole episode has me rethinking that. Stupid Boomhauer (Manuel).
Joe Torre used to always pull this crap when he managed the Yankees (back when they were good), and I never really cared. Now I know how all the fans of those other AL teams felt when Bernie Williams would somehow make the team over like 12 better players who were enjoying better seasons.

So sandoval probably has no shot of getting in now. If Ibanez is out, kemp will get the call. If Hanley is out, Manuel will pick Rollins.
Brand new adoptive daddy for the Big Unit. Congrats go out to my son for his 300th win. Only 211 more wins until he catches Cy Young!

Meh
At this point, living well (i.e., Phillies don’t make the playoffs and the Giants do) is the best revenge.

I heard him say that as well when I was on the road to Emeryville.
Pablo will tear it up in the second half, win the hearts and minds of everyone outside of San Francisco, and we’ll have the last laugh.

"The BB's are out. The BB's are being arseholes to me." - Brian Wilson.
That’s ok. The Giants haven’t played the Phillies yet. Count on Pablo Sandoval to hit six homeruns in that series in the Philly bandbox.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
I hear people make this point. When it comes down to it, does a manager take a player who he will see only about 2 days or a player who he has to see everyday?
Sandoval’s MLB service time (or lack thereof) may have come into play as well. That and the fact Manuel has never even seen Sandoval in person.
Still, it’s pretty deflating to see Sandoval not make it after finishing second to Werth’s teammate in a contest where we all voted 100’s/1,000’s of times.

let the records do the talking
phillies: 45-38 in a division that includes all lackluster teams: marlins, braves, mets (hah!), and nats (hahahah!!!)
giants: 47-38 in a division that includes the MLB best dodgers and the red-hot-under-new-management rockies (nevermind about the padres or dbacks)
of course charlie manuel took his own player. its a perfect example of biased bullshit in sports. as much as i enjoyed voting for pablo over and over and over again i think you should only have been allowed to vote once. that would have stop the bitch ass media storm and door-to-door selling of that faggot victorino
