But he didn't help us win games when it counted...

He was 3 for 13 in the three games where, if he did something more, we could have won the game and the series…

He did well overall, but I felt that he was pretty quiet for our second best hitter. He didn’t hit well when we needed him to, he did well when we were already leading.

by jewbacca on Jun 9, 2009 3:59 PM PDT up reply actions

it's not just you

i read somewhere that the writers had originally planned to kill him off early, but then liked the job matthew fox was doing so they decided to keep him alive. i wonder if that’s why— maybe they just didn’t have a plan for him as a character and so had to sort of make one up more on the fly?

Idolizing Robb Nen since 2002...

by Smoke on the Water on Jun 9, 2009 4:01 PM PDT up reply actions

NO NO NO

They planned to kill him off during the first episode, but then rewrote the whole show when they realized they weren’t going to do that.

They had done no writing when that decision was made. I guarantee that any dissatisfaction you feel over Jack’s character is unrelated to the outline of a script they never wrote.

Their pick was unprotected from the guy not signing. They HAD to take someone who will sign. I’m not sure why that’s hard for people to understand. It’s not like Storen is a terrible prospect.

The A’s are going to pay big money to Green and Boras? Cause that is what Green said he wanted, he wanted a lot of green to sign, that’s the signal when Boras is your agent. Maybe the A’s think they can get a better player in next year’s draft? While screwing with Boras by not seriously negotiating to get Green?

Just wrote up Wheeler for SF Dugout. I like him. He strikes me as more complete right-handed version of Mad Bum.

did Matzek just say Oregon is gonna let me play some third base? Did he just remember to bluff about going to college?

Draft Day 1

Wheeler is definitely a nice pick, but he obviously wasnt expecting to be drafted by the Giants. If they can get him signed quickly, that will be a good thing. After seeing the Matzek interview, kind of glad the G’s didnt pick him up. The kid looks like a total a-hole. The Dominguez and Joseph picks are quality as well. Nice job Giants.
