That’s funny

Giant Dirtbags: John Bowker, Steve Hammond. MIA List: Todd Jennings, Brian Anderson
Wronghanded Affeldt pitches right

Also, Mike McBryde read this article this morning and promptly HR’d to try and prove Fangraphs wrong.

what’s also funny is that Wendell Fairley hit a homerun yesterday too. Maybe they should start ripping the major leaguers too.

That was a weird comment about him. The worst pick of the 2006 draft was a 5th round pick who will most likely have a “career as a triple-A outfielder and occasional injury fill-in at the MLB level”? He’s a 5th round pick!

McBryde hit two more homeruns today. He must REALLY be mad.

I forgot how many early picks we had in 07, at least a few have worked out so far

No mention of Kieschnick for 08? And Fairley a worse pick than Williams or Culberson?

At least Williams is sucking in AA. Fairley is like 22 and sucking in low-A ball.

Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

Culberson and his errors?

Culberson is still like 19, I guess. They were both terrible picks, you could flip a coin.

Though, actually, I think you could at least justify the Fairley pick – he has tools, some scouts liked him.

Culberson, not so much.

Well, that's my thinking

Culberson and Williams were clear over picks (and wastes of those picks, to be real).

Honestly, if we hadn’t struck gold with Alderson and MadBum, this could’ve been the worst draft by any organization ever. What a waste..

I only have a signature because I recognize everyone else by their sigs, not their usernames..

i could say that about any teams draft

I don’t have any statistics to back this up, but you usually only end up with 1 or 2 major leaguers out of each draft(or at least that’s what it looks like).

by superk1ng on Jun 7, 2009 8:49 PM PDT up reply actions

He should have said.

If the Giants hadn’t gone cheap oafter the first two picks, the 2007 draft could have been something truly special instead of just really good (so far).

Besides, it would be tough to steal the “Worst Draft Day” Title from Sabean’s 1998 effort. 8 picks in the first three rounds, 5 in the 1st/supplemental, and Nate freaking Bump was the best of the bunch.

Worst draft ever?

You’d have to try pretty hard to get worse than Nats 2001 draft, and that’s just from a few minutes’ searching…

Yup, Fairley was a reasonable pick that hasn’t worked out, Culberson & Williams were poor picks.

I don't know about worst, but Fairley is the most dissappointing.

I had basically zero expectations for either Jackson or Culberson from draft day. It’s not a very insightful article if the author spends all his time bashing obvious signability picks (it’s not a very interesting article anyway, but I digress).

I guess they really like Crawford

I guess they like him enough that they consider him 3 or 4 different players

Adrianza still has teh upside, too.

Randy Winn is going to catch that. And he'll do it real classy-like too.

Unless the video I just saw was actually of someone else, he’s left-handed, not right-handed.
