Jenkins recap on wild card race
Mainly he points out weaknesses in all the other teams. If you are an optimist, reading it could make you giddy
Sports journalism sure has changed. 2 players psych issues are highlighted, that's even before you get to Milton Bradley, and some pitcher shoving some fan.Injuries abound for other wild card pretenders--I hadn't realized Carlos Beltran, Aramis Ramirez, Edison Volquez are all down. And major slumps on all the teams. Suddenly a team that fields non-stars like we do could be the new Rockies.

This is reason for optimism
Yea there’s a good chance it’s entirely a fluke, but I don’t care. The Giants are league average in the month of June!!!
Top 10 in avg too
Adopted Giant Darren "Speedy" Ford. Said by Andrew Baggarly to be the fastest minor league player and the best defensive outfielder in the Giants Organization. Now playing for your San Jose Giants.
And for the whole year, which provides a 3 times larger sample size, we’re next to last in OPS.
Fred Lewis can stand under my umbrella.

Sometimes it’s good to liftt our heads out of our own misery and worries and take a look around. Other than the Dodgers, there’s no one in the NL without a bunch of problems and/or under-achievement.
Suddenly a team that fields non-stars like we do could be the new Rockies
What’s weird is that for a bunch of non-stars, there are five Giants who have a legit shot at going to the ASG: Lincecum, Cain, Sandoval, Rowand and Wilson. I don’t think they’ll all make it, but at least three should. I’ll bet Tim and Matt are in and either Pablo or Rowand makes it as well. Pablo should, but Rowand might instead because he’s a more of a known name back east.
My adopted Giant: "Raptor Jesus" Guzman
Wilson is in if he gets a couple more saves
We’ll see if he can keep his head on straight between now and then.

thanks a lot
this is going to make the August collapse a lot more painful.
Watch out San... oh, wait, Sadowski... uncle Pucetas is comin' for you.
I was at the game last summer when Zito pitched a gem against the Dodgers, putting us only a game or two out of first place. I called my friend in New York, a Mets fan, bragging about how the Giants are contending for a playoff spot. The Giants then proceeded to not contend for a playoff spot.
Yeah, I’m optimistic, but cautiously so. Very cautiously

McCC = McClain Chronicles
You talking about this game? That’s the only thing close to it that I can think of, but after that game we were in 3rd place, 4 games behind Arizona, and 10 games under .500 (39-49). And that was the closest we were since mid-April.
I’m wary of the Giants’ current success too, but it’s not even remotely comparable to last year.
Meet my new son: Sundrendy Windster, coming soon to a minor league near you.
Well I was a bit off, but I’m just saying I remember feeling pretty excited since we were at least in contention even though it was supposed to be an unmitigated disaster of a season

Me
Yes, This is still a 79 win squad.
Fuggen Rox! You might want to try beating The Bums more than once in 10 games. Try it. You might find you like it.

I thought...
At best they could win 83 games… At their worst they’d only win 76 games.
I still stand by it.

If this were the Giants I’d boycott the team for the season. We may have some poor talent but the effort part is understated.
I was hoping for 86-87 wins but expecting 80-82.
