Minor League Recap for June 1
Steve and Baroness, life is dull without you and the minor leagues
Fresno comes from behind at Colo Springs to win 8-6 with Wald, pinch hitting, and Frandsen getting the key hits. Got runs in 5th thru 8th.
Copeland HR, 2B, 4H
Frandsen 2H, 2RBI
Velez H, BB
Holm 2H
Bowker 2H, RBI
Ray pitches 2 innings, just 1 BB, Hinshaw goes 1 with 1H, 1BB, 1K
Velez plays some second and CF, Ciriaco is brought up for infield depth. 6 outfielders seems too many.
Conn. loses 2-1 second day in a row, trying too hard to play like the big club. Alderson goes 8, maybe a career high, giving up a HR in the 7th and also cheap run aided by a Brad Boyer throwing error. 6H, 0 BB, 3K.
Boyer 3H, 1 R, average has soared to 270 after horrific start, batting third.
Pill 2 doubles (18 for the year) and the RBI
They bat McBryde 8th, pretty low for a prospect. He, Crawford, EME and Felmy all hitless against New Britain’s Matthew Fox, Julio Lugo, and Anthony Slama, terrible name for a pitcher.
San Jose hosts arch rival Stockton Ports and gets battered 16-7. Odle, Whitaker, Quirarte, Mixon and Lively all bad, giving up 24 hits. Whitaker has had 7 excellent outings, 3 bad ones this year.
Posey throws out both stealers who try, Klieshnik an outfield assist, Villalona and Bocock make errors, Angel’s on a throw.
The hitters make a push to come back–
Villalona a 3-run bomb and another H and RBI, hitting 313
Posey a H and RBI, then walked twice
Klieshnik a H, BB, RBI, hitting 3211
Bocock a 2B and RBI
Lormand Dhs, gets a triple and single
Ziegler is backing up first base, Graham has dropped to appropriate level and Ks twice. Noonan’s average down to 242 8/41 with 7Ks last 10 games, still terrible vs lefties.
And those Greenjackets are shut out with 4 hits by Tom Glavine and James Hoover, neither of which sucks. Oseguera in 7 innings gives up 5 hits, 2BB, 7K, 3 runs.

Tom Glavine
Can he still be considered a prospect at age 43 and in low A ball?

He’s a little old for the league.
Meet my new son: Sundrendy Windster, coming soon to a minor league near you.

but shows above average command and control, and seems to have a + changeup.

Good to see the organization stretching out the arm of Aldo.
Big V 8HRs and 5 errors
See that Tyler Graham is back in San Jose. Is Neal OK?

It looks like the pitch counts were an organizational plan:
Clark is part of a six-man rotation at San Jose. He was assigned to pitch the fourth game in the order and threw 72 pitches while on a systematic pitch count for the early going of spring baseball.
“That is where all of us will be at for three weeks,” said Clark. “Then they will start to raise it up a little bit.”
You don’t want to baby the pitchers, obviously, but it’s a good idea to ease them into longer outings.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.

Good to see the organization getting Aldo ready for the customary offensive support in the bigs.
Sergio Romo: striking out professional hitters since 2005. And winner of the 2012 NL Fireman of the Year Award!

Neal’s fine, but may have some nagging injury as he’s been in and out of the lineup a bit lately.
Angel Villalona’s bomb was either 420 or 460 ft., can’t remember what the announcement was. But it was an utter bomb.
Awaiting his arrival in SF: Jesse English

My Gosh!
You’re right. It all makes sense now. It IS time to cut Aurilia and bring up Guzman. Because the other, like, 49 million times this has been suggested was premature.
/Unemployment makes one surly.
Still the loving, adoptive father of Hector Sanchez. And who doesn't love switch-hitting catchers with power and patience?

Steve’s on holiday. Brute is probably working his ass off per usual, and I was working at my day job and meeting sportswriting deadlines. My first break since Friday was seeing Up last night.

Downs on video collission
the minor wrapup that is linked from the sfgiants page has video from Monday nite. The announcer calls the collision one of the highlights of the night—Downs scoring on a short SF by Velez, knocking over Eliazer Alfonzo in a thunderous crash. Then Downs gets replaced an inning later, hope he is OK. Did not play last nite or today, there’s a live box score up as Pucetas is losing 1-0 in the 7th. Frandsen made 3 errors Monday.
cheering for Adam Witter, who will hit bigleague dingers some day.
