One of the reasons I could kinda justify being interested in trading for clement would be that the situation could be similar to when the Indians traded for kelly shoppach a few years ago. If you end up hitting on him, you’ll either find ABs for him or make a trade .

But he has already had 1 knee surgery. The limmits him mostly to 1st in my mind for the immedate future anyways. I am not against Clement just not as hot to trot was even at the years start. Ishi is beginning to make me think he could be more than just stop gap on a bad MLB team.

Now days I am more intrested in SS, 2nd as dire need spots. And I still don’t trust Rowand in Cf for the medium term.

I agree with everything you said. I’m not excited to the point that I think we have to get him. I just like the idea of this team buying low on one or two fallen prospects, such as brandon wood or Clement. If the mariners were to take, say Pucetas and Matos for him, I wouldn’t say no. But I would, as you said, focus my resources on getting a decent SS and 2B.

righties and lefties

nice to see some Lewis and Nate and Downs in the lineup. And I like the way Bochy uses day games after night games to try odd arrangements, like Nate cleaning up.
Complaint: Some managers make a point of alternating righty and lefty hitters somewhat to make it harder for a specialist to come in as a reliever. But nope, we got 5 lefties and switchies, then 3 righties, 2 of em real light on experience.

When it comes to offense wereare beggars. And If it improves the offense we (I) don’t complain. I.E. notice I have not ranted once how much more effect Rowand’s hot streak would have been in the #3 spot? That is because any improvement – no matter how weird- is welcome.

every time Omar had an 0 fer, we would have said how horrible of a signing it was. It is easy to say omar would have been great here, but he only has to play 2-3 games a week in Texas, which keeps his legs fresh. I doubt he would have done as well here, having to play every day.

Cabrera, but he’s also sucked.

Or we could’ve gotten a second baseman and put Burriss at short, in which case short would be an even bigger problem but second might be better.

By the way, if anyone was curious as to why Sadowski was chosen to start, Baggs has some insight:

One of the commenters here brought up a great point about Sadowski: The Giants probably brought him up because they don’t intend to keep him on the 40-man roster for long, and he’s a guy they could probably get through waivers.

If you call up Tim Alderson, for example, he’s pretty much on the 40-man roster for good. That would give the Giants less flexibility when they look to add potential players in trades. And after the season, they’d have one fewer spot when they’ll look to protect guys who’d be eligible for the Rule V draft.

Yeah, fair enough. I don’t think they should call up Alderson yet anyway. I just don’t think the Rule V draft point is particularly valid in this case.
