why is Torres starting instead of Lewis?
I realize Fred’s K’s are frustrating, but the 27 year old with upside or the 31 year old journeyman? Really?
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.

I’ve been firmly on the Torres should never start over anybody on this team bandwagon for a long time. Maybe if somebody needs rest. Maybe.
What do we really expect to find out about Torres by starting him? I bet we find out eventually that he’s not very good.
At least give Lewis a chance to prove that he has no place on the team before ostensibly removing him from it.

Now if we can just find a big enough and strong enough level to shift that small mountain out of teh #4 spot.
Yes, This is still a 79 win squad.
Where is my beer & chili dog?
You’re going to move a mountain with a person who leaves?
Joe Martinez: My fingers are crossed and my palms are together for you.

Well it is a plan.
Not a good one, but still a plan.
Yes, This is still a 79 win squad.
Where is my beer & chili dog?
Well, I guess Newtonian physics does say that the leaver, imparting force on the mountain as he leaves, will cause the mountain to move. Imperceptibly. Still, it’s movement.
Joe Martinez: My fingers are crossed and my palms are together for you.
When it's all said and done, America will be remembered for three things: The Bill of Rights, jazz, and baseball.
I was assuming that you had tied the mountain to the leaver. As the leaver is perfectly incapable of not leaving, physics demands that he be strong enough to move the mountain in order to accommodate leaving.

I’m making Aztec Pie – you take corn tortillas, layer them with cream cheese and hot peppers, and cook them with heavy cream poured on top.
I also use black beans, sauteed with onions, hot peppers, garlic, and cumin in the layers, and this time I’m going to try putting some avocados in, too.

Random side discussion!
If you played little league, or play softball, or whatever, what kind of a hitter are you?
In Little League, I almost always hit stuff up the middle. LIne drives and grounders, mostly. Not a lot of power to speak of. I could work a count, though!
For some reason, I always hit the best on pitches that were low and on the outside corner. I could never handle inside stuff.

Scrappy middle infielder without the defense.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
I always got screwed on defense. I’m a pretty good second or third baseman, but a terrible, terrible outfielder. I have no judgment on fly balls. But in Little League, if you’re a bad outfielder, they assume you’re just bad everywhere, so you get stuck out in right field.

Some people interpret it as things to do when you learn you’re terminal or otherwise have limited time left on this earth. I interpret it as life goals/things to do before I die or am too old to do them. As in kick the bucket.

It’s hard to emphasize the reason you are booing Manny is more because he is a dodger than because he cheated.

sure.
But Longoria is maybe the third best third baseman in the AL. Timmy is the best pitcher on Earth.

I think I included Youkilis, even though he mainly plays first these days
But he came up as a 3B. It’s hard to argue with anyone other than A-Rod being above Longo as far as full-time 3B go, I agree.
