Curry suffered the oh-fer with the hat trick. He had a SO/AB ratio above 22.0% a year ago in the NWL. Hernandez, who had a 4.06 ERA in eleven AZL starts last summer, had an uninspiring NWL debut, including three runs in the 1st inning and a run in each of the next three innings. Grabham, a late round draft choice two years ago who had a sub-3.00 ERA in ten AZL relief appearances last summer, struck out six of fourteen batters faced in his 2009 season debut. DSL: Giants defeated Rays 4-2 Dominican: 2B Carlos Willoughby: 2 for 4, BB, SB Willoughby (20.7 y.o.) had two of the Gigantes' four hits, raising his AVG above .300. Slow day
Kieschnick hit .300 (18-for-60) with six homers and 20 RBIs from June 7 to the end of the first half Sunday. He’s really doing well. I saw him hit two bombs last week, one to dead center in San Jose and one on the Stockton broadcast on Comcast.

Are there any rumors floating around about moving Neal up this year? Lots of talk of Buster jumping all the way to Fresno after the AS break, but Neal’s numbers are solid too. And aren’t they about the same age?
Hard to believe Neal doesn’t have a promotion to AA in his immediate future. It’s certainly earned.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.
Yes
The “leaderboard” lists above are a pretty reasonable list of who should get mid-season promotions: Bowker, Frandsen, Bond, Neal, Posey, & Clark. And reasonable arguments could be made for Gillaspie (Dodd won’t affect his power, since he doesn’t have any), Kieschnick (SLG would be challenged, certainly), Tanner (I think he should stay the year in SJ), Ronick, Surkamp, and Nicholson.
Wow. The sorry state of our minor leagues just 3 years ago is amazing to contemplate now. We actually have prospects at most levels. Hallelujah!

Give credit where credit’s due. John Barr didn’t have nothing to do with Thomas Neal, or Bowker, or Frandsen, or Pablo, or MadBum & Timmy2 etc etc

Definitely, you guys really put it together real well.
A little OT: I’m heading to the Muni Stadium on Saturday night. Anyone else going? I’ll be the guy in the Giants hat. You’ll find me easily.
