Pro ETA for MadBum Timmy2

Personally Kawakami isnt my favorite giants writer but there is some good information on Mad Bum and Timmy2 compared to some of the other talents in the MLBs.

What is your prediction for these two guys coming up to the majors?

Alderson comes up at the beginning of 2010 to replace Randy Johnson. Madbum comes up later in the year.

By justing going off my gut feelings (which is what it seems that Kawakami is basing this off of + number of starts), I’d have to agree with you.

Also, Madbum performed significantly better than Timmy 2 in spring training in small samples.

But in Connecticut, Alderson is performing quite a bit better.

If the Giants are still in the hunt for the playoffs in late August, I expect to see both of them in San Francisco.

Depends on whether all the starters are healthy and productive. I can certainly see Bumgarner playing a key role as a LOOGY down the stretch.

I’m starting to think that MadBum is going to take longer than originally expected, he hasn’t been pitching nearly as well in AA as he did in A ball (K-rate down below 8…)

Bumgarner: Gets added to roster August 31 so available for WS run. Used in relief ala KRod2002/DPrice2008.

Alderson: continues to pitch for AA Connecticut with a promotion to AAA Fresno possibly in July/August. He reports to ST 2010 with an attempt to win a spot in SF rotation.

Does the Bumgarner scenario happen if/when the Miller/Medders due collapses? Or maybe you’re counting on losing Valdez in a trade? We really don’t have any room until something like that happens.

The August 31 date is the final date to set your playoff roster. If Bumgarner is healthy and effective he should be considered to be added to the 25-man roster. Yes one of the other relievers would have to be removed. All the relievers have 10 weeks to prove themselves.
