Around SBN: Knicks 90, Raptors 87: "Shump and Lin wouldn't let us lose."

I don't have a link- just saw this on the show

I know there have been a thousand of these "rumors", but I thought this one was worth bringing to your attention, to help keep a running count. The context was a discussion of players generally "available" or unavailable, and after discussing Sanchez as generally available, Jon Heyman said "there are GMs out there" that have said that Matt Cain may "become" available too.

I suppose the "sources" could be the scurrilous rumors already posted here, but passing it along for whatever it's worth.

CANE FOR FEELDER!

"Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher?" / Adopted brother of the AnVil

I think this is Baggs throwaway line from about a week ago that has gotten out of control.

by Lars The Wanderer on Jun 2, 2009 9:22 AM PDT reply actions

in a way, it's flattering...

I have a feeling a throwaway line about a mediocre player becoming available wouldn’t have generated nearly so much pub. But because Cain is so good, this “hey, you never know…” kind of rumor just won’t die.

I had MLB Network on mute last night when I was working on some stuff. Jon Heyman was on there and I saw a graphic about Sanchez. I thought they were talking about the possibilities of trading him, not Cain.

Heyman’s an idiot anyway.

I love MLB Network

but hate some of the anchors (Greg Amsinger, Matt Vasgersian)
Love a few (Harold Reynolds,Mitch Williams)

Amsinger and Vasgersian are deplorable. I’m happy to have Harold Reynolds back and him pal-ing around with Barry Larkin is just so adorable. The inclusion of John Hart on the crew as the business/management side was a good move on the part of the network.
Trenni Kusnerik is pretty good and Hazel Mae isn’t as annoying as I expected her to be. I dislike that they employ Bob Costas, but you can’t always get what you want.

Which one is Plesac? Is he the guy who does the highlights show by himself?

Agreed. He's been fantastic.

His quality almost balances out the ultra-suck of Vasgersian.

Yeah he’s really good. Sean Casey isn’t too bad. They picked a solid group for the most part.

So, according to people who do not work for the Giants, Matt Cain may become available.

Awesome. I’ll definitely take that seriously.
