Any updates on draft players signings?

Any updates on signings of our draftees? Ive heard the Nationals have signed about 10 of their guys so far. Any word on us getting anything done yet? I remember last year I think it was Baseball America had a page dedicated to updating every teams draft signings. Does anyone know if they are doing that again? Thanks for any info

phew

i was afraid my first post was going to be about my irrational concern that the giants haven’t signed all their draft picks yet and that wheeler wasn’t challenging bumgarner for top prospect yet. thanks for stepping in for me, dude!

I think this is a valid post

It’s interesting to follow along on who has signed and who hasn’t, or if there any updates. From all accounts Wheeler wanted to sign fast.

Baseball America’s database doesn’t indicate it yet, but I guarantee at least a few of them have signed.

It is interesting because there are some teams who have already signed upwards of 20 + guys. The Cardinals for instance I was reading. Nats have signed a lot of their picks already too.

oh god

irrational fear rising

What exactly are you afraid of, irrational or not? Do you think they’re just not going to sign their draft picks this year?

It’s not only irrational to worry, it’s flat-out silly.

i don’t actually think they’re not going to sign their picks. however, i do see a lot of people around these parts freak out over minor, inconsequential, or otherwise meaningless events, so i figured i’d join in the fun. maybe if i typed OMG GINATS BRASZ!!!@1 or posted a LOLcat i would’ve done a better job. my mistake. i’m still learning teh internetz.

IIRC it was about a week after the draft, a full week plus a few days, that I reported the first wave of signings. They typically happen in bunches. I was really surprised to hear about Storen signing before the draft even ended.

All of the guys you would expect

to sign have already signed. If you’re bored (as I was, waiting for my on-duty call) , you can scour the internet and find links to hometown newspapers that indicate a lot of the college guys are already signed, and in Arizona, at the instructional camp waiting for their assignment. 6th round pick Matt Graham said he wants 2nd round money to sign, but if you read between the lines, he really sounds like he just wants to get started in pro ball. The kid they drafted out of Pennsylvania h.s. in the 8th round already has a huge Giants insignia on his facebook account, so you can probably figure he’s pretty safe to sign. They will probably announce this first wave of signings by the end of the week as their short-season teams start on the 20th and 21st respectively.

HAHAHA

“it’s been a week and the deadline isn’t for 2 months. chill.” thank god you helped calm me down.

I was really losing it there and not simply asking for updates.

BTW, the Rockies have signed 14 players including one of their first rounders, but I am not a rockies fan so I dont give a shit. So again… any updates on the team we care about? because Im not freaking out, im just interested. ALSO, non asshole responses would be welcome. so druncan and I did my job can take a break for a sec

I spoke to a big wheel in the Giants org on Friday, to get an interview set up with him on this year’s draft class, and he said he didn’t know anything about them yet. We’re going to reconvene when he has more information. This guy is one of the decision makers for placement within the system.

MLBTR has a first round list: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/list-of-first-round-draft-picks-to-sign.html

I’m assuming he’ll keep it updated.

Also, screw the Rockies

I saw a “Prospect Wheeler Agrees to Sign” headline earlier today and got all gleeful.

Cool thanks.

Also I read the Rays have signed 14 of there guys, and the Orioles have 8.

Again, not in the least worried, because it would be dumb to months away from the deadline. I just look forward to hearing about which of our 50 guys we have inked so far.

I didn´t see a freakout anywhere in here, and i do think it´s interesting to see who signs quickly. might be attributing importance when there isn´t actually any there, but if a guy signs early that tells me he´s gonna be more likely to be loyal to the organization. Guys like Matzek turn into guys who pull shit like Schmidtty´s move to Chavez Latrine. That was a fairly formative and painful experience for me… i was young and i used to really like the guy! Then he became a baby-eater and hasn´t pitched a decent inning since. hehe.
