PANDAMANIAAAAAA!!!!!!!

I'm sorry but I can't say enough about Pablo Sandoval. His season and quick development is the reason why all teams (especially the Giants) should invest heavily in Latin American baseball. Build academies in countries, sign as many kids as you can. There is just so much talent oozing out of that area that it's just awesome. And to have a player with his kind of enthusiasm and love of the game and love for competitiveness is just infectious to not only his teammates but for the fans too. It reminds me of when Miguel Tejada was coming of age for the A's in the early part of the decade. This combined with his late power surge is just awesome. Kid's OPS is now .913, just 2 pts behind Hanley Ramirez and Hunter Pence. And 5th best among all qualifying 3B in the majors. Those ahead of him: Wright, Longoria, Mark Reynolds and 5 pts behind Chipper Jones. Ahead of Ryan Zimmerman, Casey Blake, Feliz etc.

Aren't you glad we didn't take a gamble on Joe Crede's back now?

Sandoval would even be top 8 in ML 1B as well in OPS. Better than Miguel Cabrera, Ryan Howard, Lance Berkman, Todd Helton and others. Like Nick Johnson and Adam LaRoche.

All hail the Panda!

Someone wrote “Pandamonium” earlier and that sounds great. The cashier at my favorite mexicatessen calls him “Secret Weapon”.

Ode to Pablo Sandoval

I love your happy smile
You hit the ball a mile
You jump in the dogpile
When you’re in the box you’re dialed
You’re large like Big Money
But you’re not slow like honey
Your nickname is real funny
DINGERZ bring the sunny
You love the game of baseball
You wouldn’t fake a sick day call
You’re <a href=“http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=3484016>not afraid to ”http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=4406049">take a fall
In the outfield you’d leap up walls

Pablo Sandoval is really one of the great players. He does it with the bat, he does it with the glove, he’s deceptively fast, and most importantly, you can see he loves to play. Every time he gets a big hit or makes a big play he’s got this huge smile plastered on his face (especially at the end of the walk-off homer) that marks him as one of baseball’s good guys.

It is quite funny, despite the cake timing being off… he should trip on the cake. Or better yet, pie.

The cake timing is perfect, he doesn’t trip on it, he’s distracted by it. Watch the eyes follow it.

He turns the head before the cake, or the cake isn’t perfectly synced with the stationary objects (even accounting for parrallax, it seems to drift a little) – it isn’t a perfeect track. I apparently call out nitpicky crap out of habit now – it’s one of the things I do at work. Not that I expect or desire perfect edits on animated GIFs posted to internet message boards…

Joe Crede has actually been really good this year. He’s been worth 1.7 wins above replacement already. Sandoval has been worth 1.8 wins. Crede at third base and Sandoval at third looks pretty nice right now.
