maybe they are going to replace him with Tony Gwynn (or maybe even Scott Boras) to make it easier to sign Strasburg.

Not to toot my own horn (toot, toot) or pat myself on the back (pat, pat), but I called this firing in my fanpost of 2 days ago (“Worst team ever?”)! I wrote: “I wonder how their manager (Jerry Manuel?) still has a job?” Apparently Acta is so bad I couldn’t even remember his name. Now if I can just translate some of this apparent clairvoyance into my lottery picks for next week.
"There ain’t much to being a ballplayer, if you’re a ballplayer." - Honus Wagner
Acta is actually a decent manager. He’s a bit overrated, but there’s nothing wrong with him. That team just sucks.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
As was mentioned here when the Giants’ interviewed him, he is part of the new wave of baseball people who are very much into computers and all the new stats. His firing doesn’t put Bochy on the hot seat, it puts Jerry Manuel on it, because Omar Minaya loves Acta. I only wish the Giants WOULD hire Acta, because his daughter is a customer of mine. I would have lots of helpful advice for her dad to ignore.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
A Manager's Job Is To Manage Players And Thus His People Skills Are More Important Then His Stratigic Skills
The Nationals record is far worse then their talent level should allow. Therefore there has to be another problem and I would not at all be suprised if that problem was Acta’s people skills. This was his first shot at managing a MLB team and maybe just maybe he proved he does have what it takes and therefore should remain a coach.

Yes
Manny Acta’s lack of “people skills” is definitely responsible for the Nationals’ 5.28 team ERA and 14 blown saves.

Yeas, Their Pitching Is Bad. But Inspite Of This Their Record Should Still Be Much Much Better.

Yes, I Get That
They should have a better record than they do, but it is a HUGE leap in reasoning to go from that to attributing that underperformance to Manny Acta’s poor people skills.

somebody with better people skills could probably lower Shairon Martis and Craig Stammen’s ERAs by a couple of runs
