My own:
1. Cain wins 20.
2. Tim falls just short; maybe 18 wins.
3. Voting with my heart, Zito gets 15 wins
4. Wilson remains our closer.
5. Giants are out of wild card (having already been eliminated for NL West title) on Sept. 18, a damn big improvement over last year.
6. Unemployment will be 8.9%

1. Cain gets 20
2. Lincecum finishes around where he did last year
3. Wilson is hot. He’ll be the closer.
4. I know it’s cool to be the eternal pessimist here, but I think the Giants are getting better. And we’re only a half game out of the wild card. Is it really unrealistic that we can win the thing?
…I’ll wait for the one-word “yes” responses.

1. Cain only gets wins 20 if the Giants make a trade for a bat that works out (unlikely).
2. Timmy hits a hot streak and ends up with 18 wins again.
3. No, Zito stays in single digits. Anybody else notice that Z is getting all of the bad luck tha Cainer got the last 2 years? I hope that continues.
4. Wilson remains closer. I only see him losing it if he hurts his arm (which I don’t see happening). However, in the long run we need to trade him in the next 15 months (hopefully when he’s at his most valuable). I just can’t imagine him being a reliable closer for us when we have a great team in 2011 after we get some of our current prospects in the bigs, and make some judicious trades and FA signings. Wilson is just too likely to blow up in the real pressure sitiuation of a pennant race against good teams down the stretch or in the playoffs (think about the last Mets series).
5. Sept. 15th
6. 10.4% (but it could easily be higher if they pass a socialized medicine bill – then all bets are off and our kids/grandkids will be drones).

Unless some unforeseeable event takes place (trade, severe improvement by at least 2 of our hitters), none of our pitchers will win 20 games. Wilson will stick as the closer, I think. He’d have to have meltdown to the point where all of the McCoven would be cursing him horribly at the very sight of him for at least 3 weeks. I don’t see that happening. I think our fair team will be mathematically eliminated in the last week of the season, but before the last series. This team is better than what most of us give them credit for, but just not a playoff team. Next year I think we can hope for some playoffs.
That all being said, I’m very pleased with the team so far this year, compared to my preseason expectations. I’m still expecting a bad stretch, though. I hope I’m wrong.
