Post-Meetup Fun Chatter
So great to come out to the park and see everyone who made it to the Baby Giants.
I didn't bring my camera, so I can provide neither photographic evidence nor witty comments, but highlights were:
-The background to the "jcb = RAGE" story that I never did hear the beginning to.
-Fist-bumping jcb's kid and fawning over his baby, much to the alarm of my husband.
-Hatching plots, too late, to introduce said husband as the user SneakToBetterSeats.
-Talking wine-barrel potatoes and hot 40-something managers, not with the same person (I don't think ...).
-Meeting Kevin, who did such a great job of organizing this whole thing. Kudos! More of this please. Also, I liked your write-ups.
-Merkin and his girlfriend's AMAZING matching heckling voices, about one octave apart but equal in volume.
-E-Me's and my matching *~*~*VINTAGE*~*~* <--LOOK! (oops, eBay moment) McChrons t-shirts. Grant's right, the official printed ones fade like crazy. I suggest you go with CafePress, as mine is still doing well, even though my dog peed on it two years ago. Bleach and All Free & Clear fixed that right up. Is my dog a Dodgers fan?? Help.
-The food. I think it was better than at Mays Field, though maybe that's because it was free with the ticket.
-Seeing the Baron, obvy.
-Oh ... baseball? Alderson is scary good! And we won! And the big Giants won too! Which thanks to the miracle of modern technology, we got to keep an eye on!
So, in short, lovely to meet you all and thanks again a million times to BruteSentiment for setting this up. Hope to see everyone again soon!

I already commented a bit in the planning thread, but a few thoughts on the game, or the bits of it I was able to catch:
- I’m a fan of Alderson’s windup. It’s not whack like Nomo’s (or even whacky like Lincecum’s), but it’s kind of pretty to watch. Has a nice cadence.
- Alderson got hit pretty hard in the first two innings. In the first he didn’t give up any runs, but the first hitter (was it the first pitch? I want to say so, but my day is a bit of a blur so I’m not sure) almost hit a homer off of him. It was caught on the track in, as I recall, dead center field.
- Crawford was hitting the ball pretty hard. I was confused, seeing the box score, because I could’ve sworn he had a double. I always liked him, but I’m amazed at how quickly he’s progressing. I think he’s for real.
- I don’t recall hearing much of anything about Neal’s defense, but he made a fine catch on a blooper that I was sure was going to drop.
- I kind of hoped the two relievers who pitched would give up a few runs, because I wanted to see Quirarte. Sad!
Also, on a sad note: in the section past ours, there was a kid who got hit in the eye with a foul ball. I couldn’t really see it from our section (although the word buzzed back to our section), but my wife was off walking with our son, who didn’t want to stay still, and she saw the whole thing. Sounds like it was pretty scary.
Also also, Natto showed up after the game ended, and I met him for approximately ten seconds.
Also also also, the umpires tossed a ball over to me for my son as they were leaving the field, which was really cool. I’ve been going to Major League games my whole life, and I’ve never even gotten a chance at getting a ball there!
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that pie > cake, that Bochy is endowed by his creator with certain undeniable traits, that among these are veteran man-love, a gigantic skull, and the pursuit of the double switch.
Adopted Giant: Fred Lewis, who can still draw a walk.
Undoubtedly, one of the best ways to spend 10 seconds.

I got a ball for my kid that way once, but I think it was the 3rd base coach that tossed it over.
We like going to the little Giant games – I was just disappointed I couldn’t make it yesterday. But I’m here in SJ – so hopefully I can make it to the next one or some other informal gathering.
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch

CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!
i’ll have to agree with merkin that jbc9’s kids were cute
I will heckle you until you crack. If you're an umpire and get the call wrong be prepared for a voice that will echo in your ears.
I’m glad I’m not a highlight for anyone.
Good game, good food, ok beer, great people. I’m in for another night, but I choose GA next time i think.

But...but...
Georgia’s an awfully long drive away, and the Giants don’t even have a farm team there!

Joke failure! Abort!
See, this is what comes of not giving a rat’s ass about golf. I thought Augusta was in one of the Carolinas.
Anyway, it’s still awfully long for a road trip.

True fandom
I drove 8 hours to get to Augusta last year. It was great to see the prospects in person.
Sergio Romo: striking out professional hitters since 2005. And winner of the 2012 NL Fireman of the Year Award!
Seriously though...
…I thought the deck thing was excellent. It made it much easier to meet-n-greet. There were still folks I didn’t get to meet, but not as many as if they were all three rows forward and ten seats over. Also, I enjoyed the easy access to beer and food.

If I put you in as a highlight people would just accuse me of being trendy, like people who like Franz Ferdinand. :D (Great to meet you by the way!)

I also had a good time. We had tons of food and I got socialize at a baseball game for once. I had a beer from the tap and it was divine. Much better than the swill in the bottle. Very much looking forward to the next event.

Great time at the yard
Thanks Brute for putting this together, I had a great time and it was good to meet up in person.
Good call on the VIP deck… everyone was really nice, the food was good and the beer stand was literally built into the section for added convenience.
Plus, seeing those kids in person was a treat and I can now say from personal experience there’s some good looking players coming up in the near-ish future.
Hi, I am Johnny Disaster.
On my way into the park, there was this girl wearing a jersey covered in autographs who walked up to us and kept talking about how she wanted to meet the players, and how she knew what cars they drove and where they went out to dinner. She probably said a whole lot more, but I tried to get away from her as fast as possible. Creepy.

She was there after the game two Wednesdays ago.
The players seemed a bit leery of her but were friendly enough. She’s “absolutely in love with Clayton Tanner,” in her own words.

Definitely, we’ll be planning to do this again. I’ll be looking at a Saturday night in late June-July-Early August. I’ll start floating possible dates in a couple of weeks, but for now, I’m taking a while off from party-planning (especially with that draft-thing coming up).
