Romo to be activated Friday?
Welcome news, but who goes? I'd love to see Aurilia retire but I'm guessing Frandsen's going back to Fresno. Or would there be some other move?

Wonder if Sabean has had a “Come to Jesus” moment with Rich Aurilia yet? If not then Franny is going back down to Fresno.
I think you mean a “Come to Guzman” moment.

Richie will be removed from the roster so he can settle into his new responsibilities as Lou Seal.

Keeping Richie And Optioning Frandsen Is The Right Move
Kevin still has more to learn about playing multiple defensive positions so he will benifit from going back down to Fresno. Frandsen would not benifit at all from the little playing time he would get as the 6th infielder if he stayed in San Francisco. Keeping a veteran to fill this slot with how infrequent it’s playing time is going to be is clearly the right move to anyone not looking for something to bitch about.
I was almost agreeing with you...
…until you resorted to the rhetorical device which I believe is best known by its latin name, argumentum ad you are a dumbfuck.

Richie is only a backup 1b--not utility infielder
Rich has only played 1b this year, and has been pretty sucky at doing so. So keeping Richie over Frandsen for the purpose of Rich’s flexibility doesn’t really work this year.
I think GRM is becoming more and more bitter. Seems like by now he could end a comment about California’s water quality by accusing his readers of having an anti-Sabean bias.

You only hate California’s water because Brian Sabean drinks it.

Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all
If Dustin Pedroia played in Seattle, not many people would be talking about him.
This is why I drink beer.

What about moving Burriss down to Triple A?

In some ways
This seems reasonable. I’d like to see Frandsen at 2b for a while

uh
His offense is pathetic, .350 or otherwise.
by FairweatherFan on May 29, 2009 9:15 AM PDT up reply actions
Any guy thats average is slowly climbing to .300 and will probably steal 30+ bases, and plays a solid second base doesn’t deserve to get sent down. If this team has more guys that can drive in runs, his numbers would look even better
no
A guy who’s sOPS+ is 53 for his position after 171 PA’s and who is .1 wins under replacement level is a prime candidate for being sent down in favor of another player who is unlikely to do worse.
After Travis Ishikawa, Burriss is the second lowest hanging fruit on this team in terms of improving the offense. Unlike TI, there is a ready and willing replacement sitting on the bench in San Francisco.
So far, Burris has shown us that he can play at about replacement level. That has some value I suppose, and it’s good thing to have in the minors and/or hope he improves for the future.
But he hasn’t shown us anything more than that.

Look at it this way
Whoever is kept on the roster will play once every 4-5 days.
Is Frandsen better suited for 4-5 at bats a week or is Aurilia better suited for that? Both from a team perspective and from a player development perspective?
Aurilia isn’t suited for any at-bats. Where’s Scott McClain when you need him?
Insanity is just a state of mind.
Yes, He Can Be Sent Down And Recalled As Many Times As The Giants Like This Year.
Options do not limit how many times a player can be sent down they limit how many years these send downs can occur in.

One of the announcers, I think Miller, has this habit of saying that with two strikes/two outs, “the runners are now activated”. Do the base coaches go out and press their buttons in that case, or is it the responsibility of the umpires?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that pie > cake, that Bochy is endowed by his creator with certain undeniable traits, that among these are veteran man-love, a gigantic skull, and the pursuit of the double switch.
Adopted Giant: Fred Lewis, who can still draw a walk.
Why doesn’t Aurilia simply go to management and make it easy for them? Shouldn’t he feel guilty that he’s hitting .170 and players that can actually help the team are being sent to the minors because the front office is being sentimental? If Rich wants to help the team for the first time this season, he should go to Sabean and voluntarily retire.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
Do You Really Think The Small Sample Size Of Richie's 68 PAs Thus Far Is An Acurate Predictor Of The Rest Of The Year?
I am sure Richie doesn’t and I (and I would bet Giants’ management) agree with Richie.

Per Hank:
Romo activated, Frandsen demoted, Sandoval returns
No surprises here. The Giants returned Kevin Frandsen to Triple-A Fresno as they activated RHP Sergio Romo from the DL. Frandsen went hitless in 16 at-bats during his time in the bigs. The organization still wants him to play every day.
