Deal or No Deal?!!!

Do to the fact that Sabean just realized that the Giants need a hitter is surprising. Maybe he knew the whole time but didnt want to sign anymore and wanted to rely on the players we have now. Well he was wrong. The Giants are last in runs scored and homeruns.

We need some POP in our line up. Pitchers think were a piece of cake when the announcers say " Coming up for the Giants, Lewis, Velez, and Burriss" not to be mean but Fred's new nickname is K-FRED..wow and Velez is automatic strikeout or groundout and Burriss is alright from the left but is bad from the Right.

I'm scared that Sabean might trade a good pitcher in Matt Cain for some 30 year old hitter.  I say dont Deal Cain, unless its a good, and i mean very good deal. If we trade sanchez we wont get a as good hitter as if we trade Cain. Anyways rumors as Sabean is Looking into Dan Uggla, Nick Johnson, Hank Blalock and Marck DeRosa. Here are there stats. I personally think its either going to be Dan Uggla or Nick Johnson because Uggla is second base and Nick is first. Hank is a DH so where would we put him, Mark is 3rd and he defiently wont take Pablo's spot. Or Sabean will shock the world and get David Ortiz.

MLBTradeRumors has Baggarly reporting that the Giants aren’t shopping Cain. They inquired on Uggla, but I would assume it would be fore Sanchez plus a mid level relief prospect, or just a reliever.

Uggla is the only one of that group that I’m interested in and I wouldn’t want to trade Cain or any top prospects for him.

I guess, but I’d rather just run with the in-house options we have there. Sure, none of them are as good as Johnson, but they don’t cost anything. Plus, it’s just a matter of when Johnson gets hurt.

That is the point on Crystal Stick Johnson. Even if he is traded for this week he might be on the 40 man roster for 4 months but that amount he would be on the playing field would probably be a lot closer to 2 months. The Nat’s , of all teams, should be aware of this and ask accordingly.

consider that (reportedly) the Nats offered to Johnson to the Red Sox straight up for Manny Delcarmen and the Sox turned it down gives you an idea of what the Nats want back for Johnson. I think Merkin for Johnson would be fair. Both are injury prone and could break at any minute. Merkin is cheaper and more controllable and that’s also of interest to the Nats. In case they’d probably want something else, in which case I’d thrown in some non-descript non-prospect like Darren Ford. The bottom line is they’re desperate for relief help and we could cash in on that. it shouldn’t take anything major.

i’ll pass on that and keep Valdez. Valdez isn’t a FA after the season, and Johnson isn’t going to turn the Giants into a contender.

I’m sure the nats are going to milk it until the deadline, and that’s fine. I’d give up Matos, and maybe an interesting reliever in the low minors. If they don’t like it, or can get better, then oh well.

Fangraphs has him -0.2 Runs below average defensively. A bit odd considering I thought he had some pretty limiting injuries in 08 while putting up 3.5 runs above avg. I like Fred so hopefully April/early May is just an aberration.

5-pitch innings on offense don't help

at what point does the org look at the actual way in which are hitters are being coached to swing at basically everything and say “enough is enough”. Patience at the plate is a good thing that has been successful throughout the league and here when practiced by Giants hitters.

Perhaps we don’t have the personnel to do that, but I’m worried that guys who can do that like Posey will be instructed not to and their careers will be ruined or they won’t reach their full potential.

This may be a bit OT, but until the Giants land some big bats, the guys we do have need to put together really good at bats and make the other pitcher work for his outs. This approach should be fucking mandatory.
