Joe Mauer
I think he deserves his own fanpost. Ever since being activated by the Twins he has been on fire, with the best stretch of his career. After going 3-3 with 1 BB against Milwaukee today, Mauer is .429/.516/.844 for the year. He also has 9 HR's already , which is only 4 off of his career high. I always have been waiting for him to hit with power and now he finally is with 5 in his last 9 games. Guy is just a natural and very fun to watch. Even cooler for Twins fans is that he was a homegrown superstar in everysense of the word. Just like Barry was for us. I just hope we can somehow get some positional player to come up through the ranks within this decade, it's going to be pretty demoralizing to continue to watch these great pitching performances get wasted year after year because we have a bunch of guys who can't hit. Almost makes one wish we could continue to suck and try to get the #1 pick in Bryce Harper's draft year.

Also, sorry to be a stickler, but Bonds went up through the Pirates system and was a superstar before joining the Giants. He was hardly homegrown, unless the growth you are refering to was via BALCO. Booooyah!!!
All that said, I would love to have Mauer on the Giants.

I read that as LOLCAT talent.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that pie > cake, that Bochy is endowed by his creator with certain undeniable traits, that among these are veteran man-love, a gigantic skull, and the pursuit of the double switch.
Adopted Giant: Fred Lewis, who can still draw a walk.

I can’t get all excited about Barry Bonds as a home grown talent when he was initially drafted by the Giants and turned them down to go to college. He then came here because the Giants’ were the highest bidder. As much as I love Barry, he was a hired gun just like most others. Twins fans must have a special pride in Mauer, because he never played anywhere else. Of course he will eventually replace Posada as the Yankees catcher, but that’s a different story for another day.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!

I can't stop thinking about Joe Mauer
easily my favorite non-Giant player. ….maybe my favorite non-Timmy player.
Thing A
Joe Mauer is truly amazing. He is one of those guys that I feel fortunate to be able to watch.

Posey in five years.
"he walked 18; new league record! Struck out 18, another new league record! He also hit the sportswriter, the PA announcer, the bull mascot twice..."
Mauer is just “Future Posey”
Not so proud adoptive parent of the set-up man.
This is definitely not Howry do it!
Dude just homered AGAIN in the first inning of today’s game.

Joe Mauer has single-handedly lifted one of my fantasy teams from last place to next-to-last place. He’s incredible; I’m glad I kept him on the DL all those weeks.

Really?
That’s soooo interesting! Please, tell me more about your fantasy team.
