Marquis de Sad: Giants Lose Game Two
Jason Marquis: Average stuff. Needs to locate well to succeed. Matches up well against teams who are to aggressive.
Part of me wants to write that this is exactly the kind of pitcher who will give the Giants trouble. It's a little too specific of a scouting report, though. This one might be more versatile:
Pitcher: Wears a hat. Throws stitched ball with left or right hand. Stands on pile of dirt.
Whenever the Giants run into one of those, I know they're in for a long day. Good for Pablo for making the game somewhat less humilating. No shutout for you, Marquis.

Anyone who wants to take this opportunity to rag on Matt Cain can kindly refrain from doing so, thanks.

You know, I’m really glad that wasn’t on TV because I would have watched it.

I thought it was an evening game, took a nap and missed everything. At least last night’s game was a winner, went to that one.

not much to say here ...
I know our offense is better than this.

It's 3.68 times better than this, to be precise.

I used Sabes’s new PC to figure it out.

I’m going to be nice and give Marquis credit. I actually liked our lineup today so it was a nice job by him to shut them down.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
yeah, another runner on third less than 2 out situation
where the Giants fail to cash in.
Stupid Bochy will figure out eventually that a suicide squeeze is a decent play for this team.
It could have been worse
We could have given CC Sabathia 180 million dollars to lose to Matt Palmer.

The difference
The Giants didn’t do it while overpaying another pitcher in the same year and throwing money at a first baseman, crying poor and needing to borrow money from the city after building a new ballpark, and charging fans exorbitant fees to watch their shitty team.

Not denying that the Yankees offense is worse
Still seems like a pot calling a kettle more black. Not a trollish criticism…we overpaid for a lefty ourselves

at least Matt Cain chose today to get one of his rare bad days out of his system
because if he had had a good day and only allowed, oh … only 2 runs? Then he still would have lost.
so, all in all, this was good timing

OT: I know it’s super early, but Haren is running away with this Cy Young Award.
Bruce Bochy would like you to look at the career numbers and stop complaining.
I’m pretty sure Santana is currently running away with the Cy Young award, actually.

Right....no one is running away with it
I would go with Santana, Haren, Billingsley. Although fangraphs has Javier Vasquez and Tim Lincecum as more valuable

If TIMMAH wins 20 again this year, and does it “his way” – he’ll take the crown again. Haren is a bad curveball away from the DL, and Santana’s every pitch gets picked apart. If the Mets make the playoffs – yes, he’ll probably win. If the Giants (I know I should hold my tongue) make the playoffs… TIMMAH becomes a legend. (Too soon?)
No no
You misunderstood. He broke into MLB headquarters and stole it. He’s literally running away with it.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Randy Winn has been Hoooooorible this year when it comes to situational hitting? I know he got a sac fly last night, and good for him, but he’s failed to produce a lot this year (moving a runner from second to third with no outs, getting a runner home from third with less than two outs, etc.).
by FireBrianSabean on May 2, 2009 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions
The first month has always been Winn’s worst month in his career. He’s a slow starter.

yeah well today in MLB the Show
I scored 17 runs with the Giants. The giants that replaced Renteria, Winn, and Molina with Theriot, Milledge, and Chris Davis. And have Carlos Marmol. And made up Buster Posey. And Bumgarner. In 2010. So. phbbbbbbbb.
I might have named Barry Zito's coming show on Mycheal Urban's show.
I was stranded in my car with the Heir of Mayor asleep after the game (ironic because I was the one drinking heavily because of the game). Anyway, I was listening to the M. Urban show because just because, and they were trying to name the upcoming Barry Zito’s show. Perople called in with the usual stupid stuff (“In the Zone” and “Between the Lines” and crap like that) as well as insulting stuff they’ll never use (“No Speed” etc.).
So I thought of “Side Session” because it combines musical interest (a recording session with side musicians) and starting pitching (between starts they throw a side session). It appears to be the clubhouse leader, pending more suggestions in the next couple of weeks.
Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit... Maybe.
I caught a little of that when I woke up from my nap. The leading candidate at that time was “Insight Pitch” or something. Did they actually decide on something.
Always fun to actually attend a game and watch the Giants starter give up 4 home runs en route to the hometown team my in-laws cheer for.
And by always fun, I mean blows donkey balls.
Only 3 :)

Oh also, did they do On Field Photo Day? We got there around 12 due to various issues with transit. We planned on being there around 11:30 to eat and poke around the Dugout store. It was raining and they were just wrapping up the tarp. It seems all the stuff they had going on was pushed aside due to the weather. There was nothing for Mexican Heritage Day except the shirts, which are BAD ASS.

nice to see the padres roll over for l.a. in extras...
not that they were a good matchup to begin with, but watching the dodgers gain another game because a Friars reliever loaded the bases with no outs in the 10th is just….
it’s very giant like. and that irks me. greatly.
