Used Rowand as Pinch Hitter
Left Zito in (though that didn’t backfire because Wito was pitching)

Let's bring the...

by Swager on May 19, 2009 9:44 PM PDT up reply actions

The cupboard is bare

I agree with you—seeing Velez in the starting lineup (particularly leading off) is a deflating experience. But Velez actually did OK tonight, amazingly enough. Anyway, let’s face it, there’s not much else on the roster right now that would represent that much of a difference. The roster is fully-loaded with suck, top to bottom. And if Velez doesn’t start in CF, we’re looking at another night of the guy you didn’t want to pinch-hit. I suppose he could’ve gone with Schierholtz in RF and move Winn over to CF. But Schierholtz is hitting at about the same level right now as Matt Cain.

Bochy can only play the guys that Sabean has given him.

Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher??
