hope things are ok, Uribe. It’s tough to lose family members and my heart goes out to that guy.

come back soon Juan. You’re doing a fine job playing everywhere they put you, no matter what anyone else says

That’s why he’s not here today. Good for him. I hope he hits well in SF.

I watched Frandsen play while the Grizzlies were in Reno against the Aces on 2 occasions. He was played short in both games, and I assume that’s what the org will have him play up with the big club. Manny is still learning how to play in the big leagues, I think it would be a mistake to play him at short for these few games.

I don’t agree. I keep waiting to see this Gold Glove Burriss at second base that everyone talks about, and I still don’t see it. I see him “just miss” at least three balls a game. Frandsen is a good second baseman, and Manny is more comfortable at short. And that’s before you even start thinking about the way Frandsen played short in spring training last year.

If we are in a bubble, and in general you had to play both of them everyday, I agree. But we are talking here a 5 day stint max until uribe is back and Frandsen probably only stays with the club after then if Renteria is put on the DL. If Renteria ends up being out for 3 weeks, then maybe its worth looking into, but I don’t see the purpose of disrupting Burriss at 2B for 3-4 games.

I hope Frandsen tears it up and forces Sabes to DFA Richie. (And then give Richie JT’s current job)

I think Velez would get sent down if Frandsen tore it up. Richie would probably be DFA’d to bring up Jesus, i’d imagine

Don't forget that
Torres will need a spot . Torres has the attribute that I assume keeps Velez on the roster, speed. Plus he can actually hit and play decent defense.
DFA or trade Velez. Let Frandsen, Aurilia, and Uribe fight it out for a spot. Jesus doesn’t make it up (barring trade or injury ) until September.

He was already optioned earlier this year, for about five minutes, so he must.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that pie > cake, that Bochy is endowed by his creator with certain undeniable traits, that among these are veteran man-love, a gigantic skull, and the pursuit of the double switch.

Sorry about his loss, but the guy finally has a chance to play and then something like this happens. I hope Frandsen takes advantage of this and when Uribe comes back, Juan takes Aurilia’s role as pinch hitter and double switcher.

I have been pleasantly surprised
by Uribe at short so far. I had absolutely no interest in the guy this season, but he has looked fine the last couple of games.
Fine, of course, being a relative term with this team.

I don’t know about that. At least a couple of hits these last few days looked like routine outs when they left the bat. His range leaves alot to be desired.

well sure
if you desire an MLB shortstop. If you expect Joe Castle II, or Alfonzo, then you’re pleasantly surprised.

First, all the best to Uribe and his family. no one want to go on the BL.
Second, this represents another in the list tof Bochy and Sabes fail. Frandsen should have already been with the team – the moment Renteria got hurt and would have to miss more than a single game since Boch has no faith in Velez (he might have that part right – finally), but then why is he on the team. He is not trusted with defensive duties, with pinch-hitting, and it seems not in pinch-running. I’ve been watching the Mets broadcasts and they (naturally) won’t shut up about Reyes being hurt of a couple of days, and how that limits the team. On the Giants they lost Renteria, then Ishikawa, to his eye contusion Friday day, and then Aurilia to a strain on Saturday. not eh same caliber as Reyes and Delgado, but starter nonetheless. And then I heard Schierholtz was not available Thursday for some reason.
The bench is Aurilia (or Ishikawa based on not-a-platoon), Uribe, Velez, Holm, Schierholtz, right? Then Uribe becomes a starter, the bench is only 4. And really Velez and Holm don’t count. So then there were two. And then one of Richie, Travis or Nate are not available and the bench is ONE. Then we get to watch Lincecum bat for himself. Velez is actually used. I think Frandsen will be ready to go today, but if not and if Aurilia is still hurt and Uribe is gone…. Velez and Burris up the middle and in the order is bad enough, but then only Nate and Holm on the bench is another level of Fail again.

agreeded
The massive amounts of sure pig headed stubbornness the Management has refused to use the DL list in the last 3 season’s drives me nuts. If a guy can’t play for at least a couple series and you know it at least get the manager a warm body to help things out before being short handed causes more injuries ( let alone more losses). I don’t remember things being like this in Alou and Baker years but it sure does happen under Big Head.

and the pig headed subbornness gets worse
from Baggs and today’s lineup.
As I posted last night, Kevin Frandsen up, Juan Uribe to the bereavement list. Lewis off, foot might be acting up. Burriss gets a day off; Bochy mentioned he might do that. Eugenio on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball!
Okay, so who does that leave on the bench?t Lewis, hurt/resting. Burris, resting. Renteria, hurt. Holm, holmy. Aurila, ??.
Looks like Velez is playing 9. Sorry America.

It definitely happened under Felipe...
…in particular with Moises. It drove me crazy. A couple of years ago I looked up how many days the Giants were left short-handed during Moises’ tenure with the team. There were at least 20 games during 2006 where Alou was on the active roster but not available to play.
