We hold these truths to be self-evident, that pie > cake, that Bochy is endowed by his creator with certain undeniable traits, that among these are veteran man-love, a gigantic skull, and the pursuit of the double switch.

You know

I’m close to giving up on this team as long as Bochy is the manager. What is this, 3 games he’s cost us this year? This game isn’t lost yet, but it might as well be. With our team as it is, 3 or 4 games could make all the difference. You HAVE TO WIN GAMES LIKE THIS when you’ve got a team like ours.

by bondslegend on May 15, 2009 9:19 PM PDT reply actions

Seriously, Bochy is such an idiot. What possible upside is there to what Bochy did tonight?

1. Despite the success of the move, having Timmy bat in the 6th with a runner in scoring position significantly reduces the chances of scoring a run.

2. Timmy had not looked that good all night. Reduced velocity and wildness made it seem like he was walking a tightrope.

3. Tim was already up to more than 100 pitches and appeared to have been struggling along with losing velocity. These are exactly the types of situations where young pitchers hurt their arms.

Just an absolutely boneheaded move in every way. It is made even worse by the fact that Bochy has gotten us burned multiple times over the past few weeks by making this exact same mistake.

LEARN WHEN TO YANK YOUR FREAKING STARTER BOCHY! THEN DIE!

I always worry more about Lincecum when he has a big lead.

For whatever reason he just seems to much less sharp in games where the Giants score him a bunch of runs early. last year, there were games against both Houston and KC where he was given 5 or 6 run leads early and struggled — the giants lost both games.

“That 1 error by Brian Wilson in the 9th very well could have been the difference in this game.”

On the plus side, if the Giants keep playing like this, Sabean won’t trade Alderson and Villalona for Hank Blalock or something.

Probably.

If there can be negative OPS+, surely there can be negative runs.
