Exhibit 8,645,841,273,110 that the Yankees & their brass are galactic jerks
Yeah, the metaphor about "having them over to your house" really applies. Maybe with all that public tax money spent on your new stadium, you should have had the expensive seats made out of something that could withstand humans sitting in them for a few hours. Clods.

LAME, they could have even let them on the field!

This is why I hate the Yankees.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

nah, this just added to my hate of the Yankees!
Someone needs to photoshop a USSR Flag, replacing the sickle and hammer with the Yankees logo

Nice.
While I hate the Yankees, the person planning graduation ceremonies at NYU really dropped the ball if they failed to ask which seats would be available for guests to sit in, whether anyone’s view of the commencement speaker would be obstructed, and whether it actually made sense to have the graduation at this venue instead of, say, Madison Square Garden.
Having said that, as the author correctly points out, it’s things like this that are doing incredible long-term damage to the Yankees brand. [Rubs hands with glee, cackles]

Its not just the guest...
NYU grads are field level, if the yanks blocked guest’s this would not be a big deal but to allow a graduation and then not allow seating in area closets to ceremonies is stupid

NYU normally has its graduation ceremonies in Washington Square Park – which is a real pain if you’re in the neighborhood, actually, because they block off the whole park for a few days – but apparently this year there’s construction in the park. With their normal digs unavailable, it may just be that they had to take what was available. Even in New York, there are only so many places that can accommodate a graduation that size, and a lot of them were probably booked well in advance.

They did this last year too, though. One of the graduates jumped out of the stands and ran the bases. Made it almost all the way home before the security guards tackled him.

Ah, I didn’t know that. It’s been way too long since I’ve been to New York.

Hillary was the commencement speaker
The Yanks probably did these grads a favor.

Last year at Old Yankee some graduating idiot tore off his (purple) gown, rushed the field and streaked around the bases. This may or may not have something to do with the empty front row seats but I think we can agree that blaming Yankee greed and pettiness is more fun anyway

A friend of mine just had a good point
The Legends section probably has its own entrance and looks to be sectioned off from the rest of the lower deck (like the Field Club at AT&T). If they couldn’t fit all of the grads into the Legends section, it probably would have been a pretty big logistical problem to have the extras in the rest of the lower deck.

Somehow I think that an organization that routinely funnels 40,000 people in and out of a stadium on a daily basis could have solved that problem had they wanted to.

Quite correct
I have attended events at our own AT&T Park other than Giants games, and have sat in the “premium” seats— not by sneaking, either. You said it: it works perfectly fine if the management of the ballpark wants it to. Much like game day.
