Worst. Promotion. Ever.
"On Wednesday, May 6th, the Grizzlies will present their first signature theme night of the 2009 season, Nerd Night, in honor of the opening of the new Star Trek movie in theaters next weekend. The evening at Chukchansi Park will celebrate not just the stereotypically "nerdy" things that people enjoy, but give fans an opportunity to express, and learn, that EVERYONE is a "nerd" about something."

Why is it so bad? Someone could go dressed as Nate Silver or something…bring a laptop and pretend to not watch the game.
Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...

Maybe not the worst ever...
…I just couldn’t resist using the Comic Book Guy meme, thereby ironically establishing my own nerdiness.
Also, the part about learning that “everyone is a ‘nerd’ about something” strikes me as a little too afterschool special as well as a transparent attempt to have it both ways.

I have to say your second sentence was far nerdier than your Comic Book Guy reference.

My natural nerdliness outshines my concious attempts.

I don’t know if anything could beat the ’stache giveaway at Yankee Stadium last season.

Nobody night is still my favorite.
What? You want to go to the game? Hell no, it’s nobody night!

I shared “nobody night” with my friend who is a RedSox fan and he countered with this.

Really?
Must’ve been a lot of people on the downtown B with tires… although it’s smarter than Bat Day in that it’s much less likely fans can pelt their underperforming team wtih radials from the stands…
