I made it to Fresno somehow. I missed the exit for highway 99 and had to spend the next hour figuring out where the fuck I was. What a freaking nightmare.
Here in Fresno, Jesus Guzman is not in the lineup. Matt Kinney gets the nod as the opening day starter with Pucetas going tomorrow. The Beavers are in town (heh) so we’ll see what few prospects the Padres have in Venable and Blanks.
And so far I see Connecticut en route to their first win of the season.

This walking off the field thing isn’t actually making me feel better. I’ve heard plenty of stories with head injuries where the person seems mostly fine at first and then has serious complications soon after.

Yeah. The Natasha Richardson thing is rare as I understand it, but there could be a concussion and those can have serious after effects.

my wife recently had a concussion when she fell while ice skating.
At least it looked like he got hit in the front (i.e. hard) part of the head… but blood from a head blow scares me a lot.

And we should all be pretty familiar with what a concussion can do. Remember, Mike Matheny was wearing a mask. This is not a good situation until we know for absolute sure that it’s not a bad situation.

I’m not saying that’s not the case. But depending on severity, one concussion can be too many concussions. And Martinez didn’t have the benefit of any protective gear.

It makes me feel better
because at least he’s not still on the field lying unconscious. In that case, there’s no doubt that he’s in big trouble. Hopefully, he won’t experience any after effects. But I get your point, he’s not in the clear yet (especially in the wake of the Richardson tragedy), and we’re all praying for him.
