Aurilia to start at 1B Thursday
"Bochy reiterated what he said in spring training: "We are not in a platoon there." Travis Ishikawa, who hit a three-run triple yesterday, will start against some left-handers, but depending on the kind of lefty, Aurilia will get some starts, too."

I was ready to be pissed off but a start every now and then is no big deal. But I’ve got my eye on you Bochy.

What if Ishikawa goes 4 for 4 with two homeruns tonight? Does Bochy still sit him down for Aurilia? Obviously he would. That’s why he’s a bad manager. The Giants scored ten runs on Opening Day. What if they score another ten runs tonight? Why screw with success?

I don’t think he should sit Ishi. I just don’t think it’s a huge deal if he does.

I am torn. I think that Bochy should let Travis take a shot at a lefty in the regular season before he sits him.
However, spot starts against a lefty for Aurillia I can be ok with too. I just don’t want to see Aurillia’s name next to first every time the Giants face a lefty.
As for tomorrows game, especially if Ishi has a good game tonight, give Travis the shot at the lefty. His spring numbers were pretty good against lefties, see if that translates to regular season.
I am not in pissed mode at this. Yet

Roberts is on the pregame show with Greg Pappa and said that his knee is not acting right and he may transition permanently to a broadcaster. Not a declaration of retirement, but close.

… depending on the kind of lefty, Aurilia will get some starts …
Would that be the kind who throws with his left hand?

And after Aurilia had an Oh-fer today, I'm even more pissed
Exactly how is Ishikawa — a young player with some promise and who is our pretty-much-first-baseman — going to get any good at hitting lefties if he is never allowed to face them? By watching Rich Aurilia — an old player with no remaining promise and who is pretty-much-playing the last couple holes of the course — go hitless on a day that our team managed to score 7 runs??? Play the damn kids, Bochy!
