McC love from Deadspin
Deadspin took some time away from their wall-to-wall Bill Simmons coverage to link to yesterday's Tim Lincecum graphic here at McCoven. The post was written by Rick Chandler, who I'm pretty sure lives around here (he always seems to interrupt Deadspin's normal programming with Bay Area-centric fare). Along with the link and some stuff about The Unit, he also added Lincecum's quote from yesterday, "I just have to take this effort with a grain of rice."

They also linked to the computer’s site.

The comments are pretty dumb there. A sampling:
Barry Zito is happy he’ll have company in the overpaid and underperforming corner of the dugout
- I assume this is referring to Randy, which makes no sense.
Big Unit Is Giants’ Go-To Guy…to where? The DL? Giants and Padres: Last one to 50 wins gets contracted.
- Moron
Now if only they could sign Mel Ott to hit some home runs the Giants would be set.
- Classic joke, he should write for sitcoms
I don’t think it had anything to do with Randy Johnson. I think it was because nobody in San Francisco gives a rat’s ass about sports.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realized God doesn’t work that way, so I stole one and prayed for forgiveness. - Emo Philips
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at second.
Just goes to show...
You have to bring you A-game if you want to be invited to comment on Deadspin. Your “sitcom” comment is probably right, as most of these guys are probably frustrated TV writers.

The Deadspin commentators are barely one step up from sfgate.com

I believe it’s called the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory. Thank you, PA.

The Internet is great at coming up with communities in MCC, where there’s a small, self-selected population that’s smart, interested in the subject, and articulate. But with places like newspaper websites, the audience is just too broad and stupid to produce intelligent discourse.
Never has a poster been more correct in the history of the internet. Ever! - ResDog on yours truly
Adopted Giant: Fred "Ruthless Aggression" Lewis
And hence you witness how stupid the general population is
Just think, half the people in this country are below average intelligence.
truism as it might be, it’s a little frightening.

Wasn't that an old Carlin joke?
Something like:
“You know what’s scarry? Think of how dumb the average person is. Now consider that, statistically, half the people are even dumber. Wow.”

I hope.
If you want to read hilariously inane and homeristic commentary, read the Boston Globe’s website. When Wes Welker got hit it was like the second coming of Pearl Harbor.

Deadspin is fun! I used to get offended by internet comments about my own sacred cows, but I either relaxed or just became desensitized. Don’t take them so personally, and appreciate the diamonds of wit in the vast expanse of coal.
Or don’t. I suppose it doesn’t matter either way.
Billy Ripken is not a fuck face
As proprietor of the site that won Deadspin’s Third-Best San Francisco Giants Blog Award, I have to ask that the Deadspin-bashing stop.
…so this is the Matt Cain of Giants blogs?
