this would be totally awesome
if I had cable. On the bright side, at least I have MiLB gameday audio.

hmmm
So if I have basic cable I won’t get it and there isn’t a way to watch them online?

Is MadBum starting the opener????

Alderson is starting the opener on Thursday, and Bumgarner is going on Friday. They announced this at the SJ Giants fanfest last night, along with the announcement of the Comcast TV deal. Plus local KTVU sports newscaster Joe Fonzi was there doing a story on them, very cool guy.

Thanks
Alderson is not a bad consolation prize.

Was this the “big news” the team said they were working on at a press conference during the off-season?
If so, that’s cool, but I still wish they’d play a game or two at AT&T when the Big Giants are on the road.

Good to know!
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.

Huh…looks like I might get channel 104….At least it’ll be on demand as well.

Otherwise
How is the U-Verse? I want to get it once it’s available in my area as it seems cheaper than Comcast and there is no way it could have shittier service than Comcast.

I have had U-Verse since September and the only issue I had with them up to a couple weeks ago was that they didn’t have CSN Bay Area in HD. They fixed that right before the Giants season, so I’m good. I think I am paying a little over $100 for my extended HD package (basically the sports channels) plus internet.
Service has been pretty good. I like that you can set your DVR to tape over the internet.
by CrispinGloversBalls on Apr 8, 2009 12:14 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, that last thing is pretty awesome, plus the cost is less. I’m around $150 a month for cable and internet, and it looks like a similar package with ATT would be around $120.
How much do you abuse the bandwidth, because that’s one of the few things Comcast has done well recently. My upload speeds are now hitting over 300 k/s, whereas it was capped around 40 less than a year ago.

I don’t really abuse the bandwidth. I actually don’t even have a physical connection to the modem. U-Verse actually gives you a wireless router, which seems to work fine for my needs.

That is something Dish and Directv customers share: neither of us get this channel.
by SFGuy on Apr 7, 2009 11:48 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Can’t you order it on the sports package? Or is this solely for Comcast Bay Area customers.

Comcast Hometown Network isn’t a sports channel though, it’s just more of a local highlights channel I think.

My dad was hinting that we might switch to Comcast soon when I talked to him yesterday! I’d be able to get this channel AND MLB Network finally!

This should be a no brainer.
The Giants own this network. They should be televising games for all the affiliates. I’m sure they have room in their programming to mix in a minor league game even if it’s not live.
