Around SBN: Notre Dame's Turnaround: How Have The Irish Done It?

Hedrick, 26, doesn’t throw hard and never seemed to impress the Giants despite his performance. He was 4-6, 2.14 with 72 strikeouts in 71 innings at Double-A Connecticut in 2007, so naturally the Giants sent him back to the Eastern League; he was 2-3, 1.37 last year there with nine saves and a 74-21 K-BB ratio in 66 innings. His career line—10-15, 2.38, 28 saves, 317.1 IP, 219 H, 379 K, 120 BB and a 2.38 career ERA.

Fortunately, I have some extremely trenchant analysis as to why this happened, and am not simply screwing up my face and saying, "Whaaat?"

Wait, that's a lie.

Whaaat?

I bet the Padres pick him up. He just screams Padres.

And that stinks, too. I liked Hedrick.

I was wondering about that...

…I saw it mentioned in Garrett Broshuis’ Prospect Diary last week, but since it was dated April 1, I thought he might just be having some fun at a teammate’s expense.

Yeah, this doesn’t make much sense.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realized God doesn’t work that way, so I stole one and prayed for forgiveness. - Emo Philips

Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols in the outfield.

Yeah, especially considering we have some pretty worthless relievers throughout the minors. At least Hedrick is…well actually he’s old for his level, but at least he’s not old old. And he’s put up some good stats. (And what is ortiz doing at fresno?)

Ortiz is insurance.

Mostly, I figure he’s insurance against Starting pitcher: Pat Misch.

I’d take Misch over Ortiz any day. And I was never a fan of Misch.

they said there was no room at the inn in fresno

but there is room for yabu…and as minor league rosters work differently than mlb teams (guys can be dropped, then reactivated the following day) it doesnt make alot of sense losing him without even bothering to try him in the pcl

thing is , had they really wanted him to catch on somewhere, they woulda released him before st…not towards the end

I got an email from GB saying the BoSox had picked him up

and he’ll do extended spring training with them before being place on a minor league roster.

Damn. I hope he keeps blogging, though. His stuff is always a good read.

Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

so, what you’re saying is that, for the most part, all he did was get people out. do we really need pitchers like that anywhere in the system?

they could’ve sent him to San Jose like Adam Cowart.
