Just Wondering How To Watch Giants Games ...
ok, I've just moved back to California after living on the east coast for 8 years ...
My family has Dish Satellite, and I just paid the extra to get the multi-sports package so that we could get CSNBA and watch most of the Giants games. So far during the preseason, all these games seem to be blacked out (we live in the central valley/Fresno area).
So, is this going to change with the start of the regular season? Can you get any Giants games at all on CSNBA in the Central Valley? I've tried googling Giants and "blackout rules" but haven't really been able to find anything - how do these blackout rules work exactly?
Basically, if I'm willing to pay for it - can I f-ing watch the Giants games on TV? Or does the Fresno/Clovis/Visalia area only get the Dodgers and As? Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I tried to search "McCovey Chronicles" for a blackout discussion and couldn't find one.

CSN BA is the Giants official home, so you should be able to watch the games. Dodgers and A’s have their own respective channels.

I have Dish where I’m staying and we don’t have CSN Bay Area. I don’t know why. Dish is pretty shitty.

I think you have to pay more to get that “multi-sports package” where you get all the MASN, YES, NESN, FS-channels etc……

I have no say in the bills here, unfortunately.

careful
Those things all have the games blacked out if you don’t have Extra Innings, which I don’t think Dish has a deal with MLB for.

oops
you’ll get the CSNBA games, but not the Channel 11 games if you don’t get local channels.

Yeah, I have the Extra Innings on Directv so it doesn’t really apply to me. Does Dish have the extra Innings thing as well?

We changed from Comcast to DirecTV. Am I basically screwed out of watching 90% of the Giants games? I’m not paying extra for any sports package.
I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
I dunno, we have Dish Network.

I have DirecTV and don’t pay extra for a sports package. You should be fine. CSNBA is channel 696.

Oh, hell yeah! I just found it on the tele. Now the only thing stopping me from watching Giants games on TV this year is my daughter insisting on watching Curious George instead! Thank goodness she goes to bed reasonably early!
I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
696-1 (HD), 697(Alternate), 697-1 (HD) . worth the extra $10

Honestly, the MLB package is definitely worth it if you live out of the area.

we’re paying the extra $5.99 a month to get the multi-sports package on Dish Network, that gets you CSNBA
on the other hand, we’ll drop the package if as many of the regular season games are blacked out as they have been during Spring Training

I was going to say it’s best to have a bottle, bong or both handy… also, realistic expectations are helpful.

Honestly
I think that mlb.tv is the easiest way to do it, especially if you can hook your computer to a tv
Why does Sabean always look constipated?
next year I'm gonna do this
cheaper than Extra Innings, and with my netbook computer, easily portable on the road.

Get games but no hd
I live in northern california and get the games on directv 696, but as of right now none of the games are availible in HD. Anyone know why?
They’re not all in HD, but the ones that are will probably be on 696-1. Or possibly 697-1 if they’re on at the same time as the Sharks/Warriors.

Called DirecTV yesterday
and they said, according to their secret channel guide it will be shown in HD today on 696-1. I asked them to send me a copy of that guide and they said no way man. If it is not in HD today I am going back to comcast cable for the season.
I like to watch giants games

OK, CSNBA IS BLACKED OUT
at least in the Fresno/Visalia area
I’m going to cancel fucking Dish Network if it’s simply impossible to watch Giants games even while paying for their multi-sports package.
Does anyone know why CSNBA is blacked out over here? Is it on another channel I’m not getting? Is this going to happen every game, or is opening day just different for some reason???

Does Dish Network not know?

1 – ok, I called Dish Network and ask them about it – they said that the Giants game was blacked out in our area, it was a local area thing that had nothing to do with Dish Network
2 – so I called the Newspaper which advertised the game as being on CSNBA and asked them why the game would be blacked out, and why they’d say the game was on that channel if it was blacked out – they turned their TV on and there was the Giants game on Comcast (which they have instead of fucking Dish Network)
3 – I called Dish Network again and told them that anyone in Visalia who has Comcast is currently watching the game right now – in other words, it’s only blacked on in our area for Dish Network – they had no idea about any of it, said blackouts weren’t their fault and looked up the schedule and said that most of the games will be blacked out but I can watch my first Giants game on April 10th
I’m currently looking up DirectTV and Comcast packages, Dish Network needs to go _ themselves
