I guess Jesus Guzman can be in my boat. Unless that’s some weird euphemism.

He got caught in a run-down and got out of it on a BS call when he deliberately ran away from the infield, towards the right field wall, to intentionally collide with Omar Vizquel. The umpires called fielder’s interference.

I just saw them post Sandoval’s batting average of .345 or something, and I was worried he was slumping, because earlier his spring BA was over .400. Then I realized that was his average last year.

Point is: when you’re worried a guy’s batting average has fallen to .345, he’s probably a pretty decent hitter.

JANE EYRE SIGHTING

The Phillies have a lot of ex-Giants. Okay, three. Four if Ellison made the roster.

Also, the Giants drafted Brad Lidge out of high school but he didn’t sign.

Lidge probably made the right decision by not signing out of high school, by the way

June 1, 1995: Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 42nd round of the 1995 amateur draft, but did not sign.

June 2, 1998: Drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1st round (17th pick) of the 1998 amateur draft. Player signed July 2, 1998.

There were also several New York Giants who did so, most notable Hoyt Wilhelm.

Guys who later became Giants who did so include Dustin Hermanson and Reggie Sanders.
