Gotta love the effort by that guy in the Giants hat. At least he’s trying to catch the ball, even though he isn’t close. And the guy in the grey looks like Dustin Pedroia.

Again, I love the AP photos. More fodder for orb-based hilarity.

Baseball is a lot like life. The line drives are caught, the squibbles go for base hits. It's an unfair game. -Rod Kanehl Adopted brother of "Jason Jarvis":http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=jarvis002jas

Oliver Perez just got knocked out in the first inning at Citi Field. Hilarious to hear Met fans booing in the first inning in their brand new beautiful stadium.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
I don’t know if it happened, but I know some Mets fans who were trying to campaign to get the Mets to bring that stupid ugly apple-out-of-a-hat contraption to the new ballpark. The lesson: Mets fans aren’t very smart.

This
After the ’94 season a lot of pundits like to point to Big Mac & Sosa bringing interest back to the game. I think a large part of it was I could go the most team’s radio flag ships web page and hear a good game. Sure the quality was tiny and a bit like a 1960’s $2 transistor radio but if there was pennant race game I did not have rely on a write up the next morning in a news paper to have experienced part of it.
R. Ortiz is not the Run Dingerz.exe we are looking for.
I still remember how exciting it was circa 1995 when ESPN’s website started posting what amounted to non-auto-updating semi-live box scores of games in progress. After having spent years out of the Bay Area and having to follow the Giants through box scores in the next day’s paper (two days later in the case of west coast night games), that was pretty amazing. Seems so quaint now.

Do they not show the Dos Equis ads in the Bay Area?
Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher??
I know it’s the Dos Equis guy. I’m just wondering if that might be Merkin when he’s old; a smooth old Latino.

Seriously, that’s a Spring Training invite that’s got Sabean’s fingerprints all over it. A guy who hasn’t been good since 2002 (when he still managed to lead the majors in HR’s allowed). But in Sabean’s mind, a veteran player is always as good as his best year, and so shall he be forever and ever.

Can some tell me if we have a Jose and a Jesus Guzman or are they the same? I always thought it was a ignorance thing/lost in translation, but now I am begging to believe we have two Guzmans!
