Gotta love the effort by that guy in the Giants hat. At least he’s trying to catch the ball, even though he isn’t close. And the guy in the grey looks like Dustin Pedroia.

After the ’94 season a lot of pundits like to point to Big Mac & Sosa bringing interest back to the game. I think a large part of it was I could go the most team’s radio flag ships web page and hear a good game. Sure the quality was tiny and a bit like a 1960’s $2 transistor radio but if there was pennant race game I did not have rely on a write up the next morning in a news paper to have experienced part of it.

I still remember how exciting it was circa 1995 when ESPN’s website started posting what amounted to non-auto-updating semi-live box scores of games in progress. After having spent years out of the Bay Area and having to follow the Giants through box scores in the next day’s paper (two days later in the case of west coast night games), that was pretty amazing. Seems so quaint now.

Anyone else find it a bit strange

that the Giants are facing the Dodgers in a preseason game in SF?

Schierholtz

Help us Torres-wan. You’re our only hope.

Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher??

What’s with the “Schierholtz” subject?

Ramon Ortiz

Seriously, that’s a Spring Training invite that’s got Sabean’s fingerprints all over it. A guy who hasn’t been good since 2002 (when he still managed to lead the majors in HR’s allowed). But in Sabean’s mind, a veteran player is always as good as his best year, and so shall he be forever and ever.

Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher??

Hopefully he’s just here to keep the bullpen guys fresh for when the real season starts.

Can some tell me if we have a Jose and a Jesus Guzman or are they the same? I always thought it was a ignorance thing/lost in translation, but now I am begging to believe we have two Guzmans!

and Edwards

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.
