They were showing a replay where Brad Hawpe injured his neck on a play at 2nd and had to be taken away in a neck brace. Vasgersian wants to go back to the replay and makes a joke about seeing Donovan McNabb among the EMTs. The other two guys just stare at him and there’s an awkward silence.

What makes it worse is that he didn’t even make the joke while the video was first playing. Afterwards, he asks for them to play it again, acting as though he has a real point to make, and there’s a long pause, and then it plays….and then he makes his lame joke, which is even lamer because several seconds have passed since he thought of it.

Even if the broadcast wasn’t live… What’s the point of saying that? I can see “ah, damn”, or “my bad” I guess, but it would make more sense to just brush it off and keep going

I wouldn't say he's racist...the guy does look slightly like McNabb at first glance
He was just trying to make a joke during a very sensitive point in time. It was a really bad joke and ill-timed, though. I’d say he’s guilty of being a moron moreso than being a racist.

Well, yeah, I think the insensitivity of the joke is the real sticking point, but it’s still a really weird thing to say (and imo, if he looks like mcnabb, he looks like… mcnabb in like 20 years or so.)

I like that the character was named after Ryan Howard when he played for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team.
