Flem Asked "With Wilson off tonight who is going to close?"

Bochy Answered "Either Affledt, Howry, or both depending upon matchups. I have even thought about putting the 1st one I use at 1B so that I can pitch him again".

From today's Radio Pregame Interview With Bruce Bochy.

If Bochy ever actually does this you Bochy hatters will have a new member in the Rainman.

Bobby Cox did it either last year or the year before, but put the relief pitcher in LF instead of 1B. Didn’t work out for the Braves though

In the 87 NLCS, Tim Worrell went into right for a batter in game 6 or 7 so he could be reused.

The good team lost both those games to the Cards in StLouis.

I have even thought about putting the 1st one I use at 1B so that I can pitch him again.

Legend has it that he first considered this strategy in the middle of a Lincecum start.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

I'm surprised he didn't do it w/ Lowry

IIRC, Noah played right field in an extra inning game.

Anything to keep Aurilia and Velez on the bench is worth a shot in my book

Why is that bad? I’m sure Affeldt and Howry are both better hitters than TI…

They should do this and switch after every pitch.

So, giantsrainman, do you still think the Giants young hitters are just as good as Kemp, Ethier, and Loney?

by FluLikeSymptoms on Apr 29, 2009 1:07 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Lewis And Sandoval Yes. Ishikawa and Burriss No.

I never said I expected Ishikawa to be as good as Loney. I never said I expected Burriss to match any of the Dodgers youngsters (Martin as well as Kemp, Either, or Loney). What I said is that I thought Lewis would hold his own with Either or Kemp and Sadoval would be more valuable then Martin. Thus far in 2009 I have been right in both of these judgments.
