I won’t call the Sharks choke-artists… but they’re not a playoff team. Whatever it is that changes about the pace or intensity of the game in the postseason just kills San Jose every year. I’ve seen it too many times to even be surprised anymore.

what I’m saying is I don’t think it’s psychological. That, to me, is what defines a choke artist. Really, I think it’s a combination of factors— they don’t have quite the grit some other teams have and Nabokov just isn’t an elite goaltender. There are other issues, but I’d say those are the big two. The problem isn’t that their game changes when they reach the playoffs (which would be choking) it’s that it doesn’t elevate.
