OT: I need about 30-40 sec of music composed for me
We have a really talented and varied group here, and I hope one of you musical types or someone who knows a musical type can help me. I will soon be starting a podcast on legal/jury issues, and I need 30-40 seconds of intro/outro music that I can use. Something kind of upbeat.
I can pay nothing now, but will promise credit on the website and some money when I "monetize" the site (I hate that word in the 2000's about as much as I detested "synergy" in the 1990's). Thanks for any help!

Do you have a genre in mind? I mostly do reggae, but I can do other stuff.
You can check out some of the stuff I’ve done here and here.

You guys are really talented! I am guessing that's not news to you.
I especially love “Better Days”— really cool stuff. I love every kind of black music except reggae, so it’s a big compliment!
It’s hard talking about a genre, other than it needs to be mostly hook and very little time spent before getting to the hook. As Ike Turner prescribed, it can be with the beat on the 2 and the 4, but it needs to be smooth enough to sound right when it is talked over. (So, for example, a nice acoustic guitar thing probably wouldn’t work, even though it could be lovely.) Maybe something close to “smooth jazz” or “electronic” or something along those lines. It definitely doesn’t have to be trombones and trumpets, all pompous and pretentious.
I know, I suck at talking about this.
HUGE thanks for your interest and generosity.

Would you mind if it’s a drum solo?

It will have to be a drum duo, because I'm going to jam with you.

I have a huge archive of old beats or guitar songs that I’d be happy to let you use. But what kind music are you looking for? ‘Something upbeat’ is pretty vague.

It is vague, you're right.
I don’t exactly know how to describe it, other than something kind of cool yet appropriate for a legal professional thing— as I said in a response above, it doesn’t have to be all trombones and french horns and pompous. Something tuneful that is serious, non-frivolous, yet cool. Something close to “smooth jazz” or “electronic” or something like that, but it has to be pretty much all hook and very little verse, if you catch my meaning. Because it will be played underneath some vocals, it probably can’t be just guitar and needs to be smoother.
I hope that makes sense to people who don’t happen to live inside my head. HUGE THANKS for your interest and kindness!

Sounds like he wants something “news-y” but not robotic. I could whip something up, but I don’t have any good recording equipment :(

The Mancini piece? I LOVE that.
I toyed with “Peter Gunn” before deciding that (a) it doesn’t fit, and (b) I would rather not get sued. Then I was thinking of his “Experiment in Terror” because of the tie to Candlestick Park, but then decided (a) the movie sucked, (b) Candlestick Park sucked, and © I really can’t afford to be sued.

So you can’t get permission to use the theme from Perry Mason? After all, Tarantino used “Ironside” in “Kill Bill”.

A little hesitant to pimp my own work, but…
You can check out the music I’ve done for this podcast. I’ve got a bunch of songs, and I’ll gladly let you use one of ’em.
For instance, I can re-edit the backing track of this song.
