SFDugout/McC At The San Jose Giants 5/3/09! - 14 Spots Left!

You are cordially invited to join readers from San Francisco Dugout Online Magazine, McCovey Chronicles and GiantsBoard.com to watch the prospect-laden San Jose Giants take on the Modesto Nuts on Sunday, May 3rd!  We have arranged for 40 fans to join us on the Martinelli's VIP Deck at Municipal Stadium in San Jose.

EDIT (And sorry I didn't post this originally): The game is scheduled for a 2:05 start.  The BBQ opens at 12:30 to start getting food.

For $38 per ticket, you will receive:

• Game Ticket for the Private, Field Level Deck.

• Personal Group Server for food and drinks.

• Full BBQ Meal from Turkey Mike's BBQ, including two beverages.*

• Scorecard and Baseball Bingo card for the chance to win prizes throughout the game.

Of course, you also get the privilege of watching the Giants' top prospects taking the field before they become major league stars.  Watch Buster Posey, Nick Noonan, Brandon Crawford, Roger Kieschnick, Conor Gillaspie, Thomas Neal, Darren Ford, and Michael Ambort** as the San Jose Giants try to close out the decade with their fourth California League Championship in ten years!

If the Giants do not change their rotation or promote anyone, SFDugout.com #3 Giants Prospect Tim Alderson is predicted to start this game!**

To take advantage of this offer, click here!

SPACE IS LIMITED; FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!

Tickets must be reserved by Sunday, April 26th.

* No saving your two beverages for the Beer Batter to get four beers.  Nice try, though!

** Actual lineup subject to the whim of San Jose Giants Manager Andy Skeels and the San Francisco Giants Front Office.  SFDugout.com, nor any website this invitation is on, are responsible for the duly deserved yet untimely promotions of any top prospects; However, in return, you will get to see the next unknown who will grow into a prospect and you can say "I was there when no one knew his name..."  That's a fair trade.

Just so it's clear, there is no profit being made by anyone on this; the use of PayPal is only to ensure that tickets are properly accounted for.  The $38 is the straight cost of the ticket (I will swallow the fees charged by PayPal...small price to pay for what should be an awesome day).

EDIT - 4/26/09

There are just 14 spots left.  If anyone still wants to come, and bring friends or family, go ahead and sign up!

By the way, this will be the first minor league game I’ve made it to since I saw the then-Norwich Navigators a couple of times in 2003-2004. The biggest Giants prospects I saw then were Greg Bruso and Carlos Valderrama – I’ve heard a rumor there might be a few bigger names on this SJ Giants team…

Man

I just looked up the 2003 Norwich Navigators, and it was awfully bleak. They had Lowry, Correia, and Bonser for at least part of the season, but if you didn’t go on a day one of them was starting, the biggest “highlight” would be Jack Taschner coming on in relief.

If anybody is up in SF on Saturday the 2nd, several of the SJ Giants will be signing at a card show at the Cow Palace. Conor Gillaspie and Tim Alderson is free but the rest you have to pay for. Posey at $29 and Bumgarner at $20 (all at 11AM, except for Bumgarner at 11:30). Those are cheap compared to what the promoters want for some of the big leaguers. Randy Johnson at $149 and Lincecum at $129. But you could get Matt Cain for $29. What is wrong is McCovey is $99. Pay more for a 2nd year player then a HOFer?? BTW, these are all for the regular items not the so-called “premium”. I won’t post the link to this show because this will sound like advertising but it’s promoted by Tri Star.

I don’t like to pay for autographs but some may not mind and you might get it otherwise.

I don’t like paying for autographs either. I’m still pissed at Grant for trying to charge me for autographing my McC t-shirt.

o.O

Why not just go to a SJ Giants game, pay $10, and get everyone’s signature?

I refuse to pay for a signature, not when it's so fun to chat with the players after the game.

Having said that, however, I was the last one to leave yesterday (waited for almost an hour) and didn’t see Posey, Crawford, MadBum or Alderson leave. I was pretty disappointed.

I've never been a man for autographs...

I never saw the appeal in getting them.

I don’t get older people (men and women) getting autographs of current players (at least for themselves). It seems a bit strange to see a 50 year old person trying to get an autograph of Tim Lincecum, who is young enough to be that person’s child. I don’t see a problem for that 50 year old person getting Willie Mays or Willie McCovey because they would be players of their youth.

by SFGuy on Apr 24, 2009 1:23 AM PDT up reply actions

I felt the same way

Until I got an Auto from Matt Cain fresh from Fresno and a litte human interaction, I was able to give some words of encouragement and take away a souvenir….And then Lowry….and then Ishikawa….and then Schierholtz ….and then TImmy…….and 30+ Autos later…..good god, what have I become……..BTW, anyone want a Todd Linden Ball?

Obviously I can’t be an autograph fiend. I’m already recognizable by some of the dudes in the system. I can live with being the weird girl who wears fruit earrings and talks really really fast. I don’t want to be the weird girl who bugs them to sign stuff, too.

At any rate, I wasn’t an autograph fiend before I became a sportswriter, either. I have some signed balls (heh balls) that were all gifted to me. That’s about it.

Having never done the autograph thing before, I enjoyed meeting the player and coming away with a memory of that event

Pictures do well too but I will always look at this baseball and remember the day I stayed behind and met these players who may some day be in the Majors or burger flippers at the local BK.

Fair point, though I wasn’t much of one even before that. I remember working in the Dugout store in college (what is it with me and dugouts?) and watching people wait 4-5 hours for signatures and a 10 second rushed interaction from the likes of Bobby Estallela, and I’d go…C’mon, I LOVE baseball, but I have better things to do for 4-5 hours.

It should be mentioned, though, at that time of my life I had a girlfriend.

Some people may assume all the tickets are taken. Maybe a fresh post announcing that there are in fact tickets remaining?
And there are probably some people like us who are waiting for work schedules to shake out. You may get some last minute takers.

Just edit your fanpost title Brute, say there’s so many ticket’s left.
