What do you rely on to follow the Giants?

I mostly listen on the radio, via KMFB 96.7 FM here in Mendocino County or KNBR 680 when it comes in, or listen on my iPhone, via the MLB At Bat application (thank heavens we're blessed with great announcers, unlike the Padres- Ted Lightner FTL!!). Don't have TV, but occasionally see at the gym, or in HD at my folks' house. How about you? I wonder how many of you are radio denizens like myself. Please take the poll...

Here in AZ it was hilarious before the computer.
I was all , like , you know , staring at the sun and screaming “SINK , DAMN YOU!”

The AM signal would be stronger then , but sometimes other atmospheric conditions would make it a crapshoot…not too often though. Our weather’s pretty consistent.

It’s pretty bizarre how we can sometimes get KNBR 680 out here at night, or at least I can in the East Valley.

If I’m at home, I’ll just watch on TV. If I’m at work, I listen to Gameday.

I had to get Comcast to get CSN Bay Area. Now I have it, and I have MLB Network again. I’m back to feeling like a complacent junkie shooting up for the thousandth time. It feels as good as the first time.

Followed it with organic margarita today

2 oz. organic tequila, 1 oz fresh squeezed organic lime juice, 1 oz organic agave nectar (if possible, get a brand with a strong agave flavor), and fill the glass the rest of the way with soda water.

;) If you like strong margaritas, you use a smaller glass.

I watch tv when I can, but it’s a bit chaotic with two kids under the age of the three, so a lot of the time I end up listening on the radio. When I lived out of state, I did the gameday audio thing. At first I was too broke for mlb.tv, and later, Gameday Audio was pretty glitchy for me, so I didn’t even want to think about how much of a struggle mlb.tv would be.

Where in the County are you?

You can get KMFB in Willits and Ukiah, and on the North Coast, but not in Hopland nor Anderson Valley. I’d imagine areas like Laytonville, Covelo, and Potter Valley don’t receive it either.

MLB Extra Innings

Though when they play the Padres, it’s unfortunately Cox Channel 4 because of the blackout. I can kind of get KNBR in the mountains east and north of town, so hoping I don’t regret not having sat. radio once I get back to camping again. (KNBR in SD proper – at least in my neighborhood – is pretty funny; signal is crossed with a Spanish language channel, so it’s lots of “Next caller is Rob from San mi corazooooooon!”)

I believe so

and I haven’t calculated the effective cost given that Saturday is blacked out : (

I’m curious to see what MLB Network does this year… between them, WGN, and TBS, it might be enough “other baseball” to get by with, at least for the cost. Although it gives me a chance to catch up on NY commercials (“I’m Giuseppi Franco…”)

don't you want to pay extra

to see every nook and cranny in Johnson’s face?

My parents have it by accident; I watched some random NHL game for a while on my last visit. It was interesting, but not worth more than I already pay for sat TV, extra receiver, extra innings, etc.

I have just about everything

I have the direct tv mlb package, a satellite radio, mlb audio and this year I added a slingbox, which is why I cancelled mlb.tv. Since I’m too lazy to bring my satellite radio home from work whenever there’s a non tv game, I keep the mlb audio package. If mlb.com tv ever wants my money back, they can stop kissing Fox’ ass and start televising Saturday games. Isn’t it enough that they black out the games on the TV for Fox? They have to do it on the internet as well?

MLB channel

I’m just out of Bay Area media outlet range, and have found the MLB channel’s highlights shows to be teh awesome. They’ll not only show extended highlights, but cut into games in progress (which of course are often Giants games weeknights) for several minutes at a time. This plus a DVR/TiVO, in order to speed through to Giants info, makes ordering MLB Extra Innings unnecessary.

by VidaWantsYourCar on Apr 20, 2009 1:57 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Except they took nearly 40 minutes to get to RJ’s masterpiece in the highlight show yesterday.
