San Jose Giants at Stockton Ports, tonight.

The joint irritation of the Fox/Selig scam, and the giants's "offense", along with the chance to see some the little giants, has lead me to consider going to the game tonight. Late notice aside, Anyone else going, or thinking of doing so?

7:05 PM @ Banner Island Ballpark.

I may also go to one of the games next week, back at Muni in SJ. If anyone is going to any of those, let me know. I belive--though I could very well be wrong) that the last two against Lake Elsinore will be Alderson and Madbum starts.

I have to be in SJ on Monday night as working media. I can keep you company during the game if you like.

but someone’s gotta do it!

amateur scouting from Fri nite

Noonan, Posey, and Gillaspie look like the advanced hitters. Solid contact most of the time, not wasting swings on bad pitches. Posey did a classic hit and run, and all of those had base hits during the rallies. Gillaspie’s 9th inning double banged off the fence. One of Angel’s singles happened because they play him so very deep.

My man Thomas Neal and Roger K, and Angel all took dumb swings early in the count and mostly made outs during the rallies, tho Angel and Roger each had 1 both solid and timely hit. Darren Ford, and Vladimir Frias, and backup catcher Trent Kline pretty much looked overmatched at the plate.

The Ports pitchers changed speeds well. The closer (I think), Thomas had 92 mph heaters and 2 decent, different breaking pitches . Still, Giants rallied against him, with hits by Frias, Noonan, Gillaspie. Posey K’d, also complaining about a call that looked reasonable to me, and Neal fouled off a bunch of fastballs before K-ing to end the game.

Ports were efficient, 8 runs on 8 hits. Barnes was only throwing 84 with little variety I could see, and was hit hard the second time around. Mixon, coming in with a runner on 2nd and score tied, allowed 2 bunt hits on weak fielding by him and Trent, then a single bounced over Gillaspie who was playing shallow with the bases loaded, then a grand slam. Cowart appears to have low velocity, but did OK

Noonan got picked off second, and Ford off first (but call was missed, then he was gunned down on pitchout) by the Ports starter.

Only 84? I saw him on tv in spring training and I think he was throwing about 89. I was also surprised when merkin said bumgarner was throwing 88-93 — well, not the 93, but high eighties?

Less arm, more talk. Raisingcain is a GAMER.

What is Posey still doing in SJ?

He showed enough during spring training that he should at least be in Conn. or better yet in Fresno. We need his bat in the bigs…
