Until they face the Lakers in the finals, then I hate them.

LeBron really is the best player in the NBA by far, though. It ain’t hype — getting the Cavs to the playoffs, that’s pretty remarkable, but the best record in the NBA? Holy crap. He’s gonna sign a 10-year deal for eight hundred billion dollars.

All part of his plan, doesn’t have to start playing hard till August, then opt out if he thinks he can get a better deal. If he realizes the market still sucks for the offseason he will stay with the Bums continue to tank (they gotta pay him either way) then have a good year next year for his contract.

I don't

the Dodgers could have signed Dunn and maybe Sheffield for playing off the bench, and gone hardcore after CC Sabathia if they hadn’t spent their time worrying about advertising, merchandise sales, and an angry fanbase.

Sabathia may have sucked in his Yankee opener, but I think that’s because the AL has seen more of him. If he had stayed in the NL, I do not doubt that he’d have been a top-5 starter. He may still be a top-10 overall.

I’m perfectly fine with Manny in L.A.

by kennv on Apr 16, 2009 9:56 PM PDT reply actions

From Baggs yesterday

A great treat for me today. I got to meet legendary "Journey" singer Steve Perry. He’s a huge Giants fan and attends a lot of games at Dodger Stadium. I was happy to discover he’s also a tremendously nice person.

I asked him what he thought about the Dodgers appropriating "Don’t Stop Believin’" as their rally cry in the eighth inning. They play it every home game and the fans have begun singing along, just like "Sweet Caroline" in Boston. It’s kind of funny. Those fans aren’t aware that that powerful tenor voice blaring over the speakers belongs to a die-hard Giants fan.

"Yeah, well," Perry said, "I never thought I’d be the rally monkey for the Dodgers."

Considering the Dodgers tied the game in the eighth and won it in the ninth, I think they’ve gone beyond the fair-use clause.

by SFGuy on Apr 16, 2009 9:58 PM PDT up reply actions
