Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

When I talked to Brandon he said he had a really good Winter in the Dominican, but I couldn't find stats on it to back up how I was rating him as one of our top 10 prospects.

i’m gonna refrain from noting any of my personal observations about this fanshot title.

regarding crawford though, he’s looking realllly good to start out the year down south. I’m really hoping hes able to exceed villalona/noonan in terms of development just because he’s already got a few years on them(I think he’s ‘already’ 22)

No offense to Baggs who generally does a good job but i felt the decision to leave Crawford off the top 30 was a pretty bad one. He didn’t have a great senior year but was very highly rated before that. It’s going to be very interesting to see how he does this year as he could really fly up the rankings or fall away quite a bit.

Um...

He didn’t have a senior season at all…he had a junior year, and was drafted after it.

I talked with Crawford before today’s game. Nice kid. Expect to see the interview on Thursday (shameless site bump).

Of course, Crawford also didn’t make our Top 50 list, so it’s not like we did any better…but in all fairness, we place a lot of the rankings also on performance, which worked against Crawford.

Sorry, meant final year as it obviously wasn’t his senior year but i copied the mistake from the article.

Suprised he didn’t make your top 50 list as despite a poor year he was still a 4th round pick, although as you say your list is performance based which is fair enough. I’m just generally skeptical of downgrading (or upgrading) any players on the basis of one year & so find it hard not to be at least intrgued by a player who was slotted to be a high 1st round draft pick a year before. I don’t think i had him quite in my top 10 but he was definately in my 10-15 range. It’s a big question mark as to how he’ll do this year though.

Yea, I noticed (and was disappointed) that Baggs got it wrong.

The fact he did had me triple-checking to make sure I didn’t make a fool of myself with him mentioning he had a choice to go back for his senior season, but considering he talked about why he didn’t, I didn’t get too worried.

I always thought 300/400/500 was a good line for SS, especially one with good defense.

College stats =/= regular stats. Bocock hit .355/.414/.568 in his sophomore year.

I’m a little confused, I must admit, about the use of =/=. Here, it seems to mean does not equal, which I personally render as !=. But I’m not entirely certain.

I think many people just aren’t accustomed to useing !=.

I’m always puzzled that people use either of them. Is it really so arduous to type “is not the same as”?

!=, <>, and /= are commonly used in programming languages, but ≠ is the correct mathematical way to write it. =/= is just for those of us who don’t happen to remember all HTML signs.

I think that Crawford was the biggest difference between BA’s list and the Community List here by far. If he keeps hitting that would be ridiculously awesome.

Wasn’t Pucetas in our top 10 but not on the BA list at all?

Pucetas, the great overrated prospect!

man, i just keep thinking it’s too soon to get excited about him, but this would be exactly the kind of prospect breakthrough the giants would need to be competitive sooner rather than later… please, baseball gods, i don’t ask for much, let this one be for real.
