Not a fan of Matt Morrison on the post game

I know this is kinda jumping to judgment after just one series into the season, but I am not a fan of that Matt Morrison guy doing the Acme Chophouse post game show. Yesterday was pretty bad as he made it really apparent that he isnt someone who knows baseball or the giants as much as he is someone who knows how to talk. That is after all why he was hired.

Yesterday his blunders included calling Sandoval 'Pedro Sandoval' (which he later corrected himself on), refering to Rafeal Soriano as the Braves closer which he is not, and speaking of how Shawn Hill (fridays San Diego starter) last year played for the Washington Senators (not Nationals). The last two of which he never did correct himself on.

Now I know these are not massive things but it is a little annoying listening to people speak when you come to realize that you know more about what they are getting payed to talk about. Especially when it comes to a guy like morrison who is one of the Joe Buck, all sports talk guys who dont know enough about one sport because they do them all.

I know greg papa does the Raiders and now that Comcast Sports net show Chronical Live that talks about all Bay Area sports but at least he knew his Baseball shit when he talked last season.

I never thought I would miss his commentary with Bip.

Speaking of Bip though, now that comcast has him and Dave Roberts, two baseball guys who can identify all 30 teams correctly, why do they need a sort of play by playguy  to counter the 2 'color' guys. (not talking about race, talking about color announcers). I mean its just a post game show. Does you really have to go out and hire a professional talker for it? Give me F.P. and the Roberts' and im fine. Maybe im the only one, I dont know.

Is Dave Roberts here permanently? I read something about him going to work for the Padres on their radio broadcasts. Good luck having to listen to Ted Lightener every day. By the way, are the Giants paying him extra to do this, or is he just doing it as part of his contract? It would be obscene to pay him to do the post game show when they’re paying him 6.5 million not to play.

On Opening Day Amy G. said the “nicest guy in baseball” would be doing this for about a week. I would imagine Comcast is paying him; I don’t think the Giants pay the hosts on Comcast’s extra coverage like Papa or Bip, just the main four announcers and J.T./F.P. when they fill in on the radio.

Dave Roberts.

I thought he was pretty good for the few minutes I watched the show. He’s got a future behind a mic.

Much better than Bip, and WAY better than taking up a roster spot

Agree totally

I thought it was disjointed and annoying to watch. You describe him as a professional talker who doesn’t know baseball, but I thought he wasn’t even that good at talking. Bip and Dave weren’t too bad imo although between them they described guys as “professional hitters” about fourteen times, but the host was basically clueless.

I noticed the flubs you mentioned and also he kind of blew the line about Joe Martinez winning the Harrry Jordan award for the guy in camp who most exemplifies the performance and dedication of a Giant.

I am not a fan either. I did like Roberts though. Unlike many people here, I didn’t mind listening to FP and Papa last season. Better than the new guy anyway, IMO.

As I live out of the area and have to watch the Giants through Extra Innings I do not get the opportunity to watch the post game show. It usually goes blank after just a few seconds into it. So I got nothing.
