I thought this was pretty funny. So I looked up more examples of failbeard. Ahem…look at result #3.

Average FB? Seems to throw pretty fricken hard for a skinny lefty if you ask me

Better than average
But low nineties isn’t what you’d guess from his K totals.

Average fastball velocity =/= average fastball.
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.
by Cookyman on Apr 2, 2009 4:25 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
The average fastball for a starter in the NL last year was like 90-91mph. Sanchez’s fastball was 90.8.

Again
Average fastball velocity =/= average fastball. Sanchez get a ton of swing-throughs on his fastball. It doesn’t really matter how hard he throws it.

KLaw did
Saying that Sanchez only has an average fastball, but gets strike outs thanks to his good control is pretty much as wrong as you can get.

I, for one, am thrilled to know that Sanchez locates his fastball well now. I predict 250 strikeouts with his improved control.
by Grant on Apr 2, 2009 1:13 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah. I noticed that too.
I seem to remember that Sanchez locates his crazy moving fastball well early on, but when he gets tired, his mechanics get sloppy and OH THE WALKS! SO MANY WALKS.
I'm spent, just can't rosterbate anymore.

That's nothing.
Adam Jones is “starting to hit the ball, which means he’ll make better contact and hit for a higher average.”
That’s just crazy talk.

Kershaw's beard
I’ve long maintained that the last white male to pull off a beard was Abe Lincoln and even he wouldn’t have done it if the south had won the war. Thank you Clayton Kershaw for cementing my theory. That sad collection of wispy follicles just screams kid toucher. GO GIANTS!

I prefer to distract myself with the question of whether you have a hair style or not.
Catcher are base running. Hitters are offense.
Only [hella] games left until the end of Zito's contract.
..and this 10 is for the World San Francisco fans Classic.

You know, I think the only flattering thing about this particular picture is that it shows off my elegant and lengthy eyelashes. Everything else is kind of a mess of bad angles, bad lighting, and bad grooming.

But yet you sure like to post it.
Don’t worry about it, though (I doubt you are).
That was actually a legitimate question I had upon viewing this picture for the first time. It’s because half of your hair is blocked by the little inset of your eyes.

Also, your beard looks like really big sideburns and a little goatee; which is kind of cool, actually.

Obey the KLaw
Solid list. I like Gallardo a lot and I hope he can bounce back from the knee problems.
Oh and yay for Jonathan too.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Very solid list. Only three of the players weren’t selected in the first round of the draft (Gallardo 2nd, Lind 3rd, & Sanchez 27th). Doesn’t seem like a list where he’s pulling something out of his ass just to write something bold. Respect to KLaw.
Don't think, it could only hurt the ballclub.

Disappointed
Normally I am impressed with Law’s work, but in the case of Sanchez he was far off the mark. Sanchez’s fastball in 2008 was insanely good: he got swinging strikes 22% of the time the batter pulled the trigger against the F/B. The batting average on balls in play (BABIP) on his F/B was an awesome .285. The one thing Sanchez does not do well is locate his F/B well.
By way of comparison Timmy’s F/B got swing throughs 15% and BABIP .311. Cain 18% and .308. Zito 10% and .323.

LOL zito. Can we rename the 5th starter spot to “Court Jester”

Zito
Sure but at a million bucks per joke he’s not very funny. What if he was just renamed Magowan’s Folly.

I know I'm late...
…but thanks for picking on the text in those blurbs. I wasn’t aware they had altered the text I submitted (Adam Jones has started to hit the ball the other way) until I saw this thread.
