Average fastball velocity =/= average fastball. Sanchez get a ton of swing-throughs on his fastball. It doesn’t really matter how hard he throws it.

I, for one, am thrilled to know that Sanchez locates his fastball well now. I predict 250 strikeouts with his improved control.

I’ve long maintained that the last white male to pull off a beard was Abe Lincoln and even he wouldn’t have done it if the south had won the war. Thank you Clayton Kershaw for cementing my theory. That sad collection of wispy follicles just screams kid toucher. GO GIANTS!

You know, I think the only flattering thing about this particular picture is that it shows off my elegant and lengthy eyelashes. Everything else is kind of a mess of bad angles, bad lighting, and bad grooming.

That was actually a legitimate question I had upon viewing this picture for the first time. It’s because half of your hair is blocked by the little inset of your eyes.

Disappointed
Normally I am impressed with Law’s work, but in the case of Sanchez he was far off the mark. Sanchez’s fastball in 2008 was insanely good: he got swinging strikes 22% of the time the batter pulled the trigger against the F/B. The batting average on balls in play (BABIP) on his F/B was an awesome .285. The one thing Sanchez does not do well is locate his F/B well.
By way of comparison Timmy’s F/B got swing throughs 15% and BABIP .311. Cain 18% and .308. Zito 10% and .323.

…but thanks for picking on the text in those blurbs. I wasn’t aware they had altered the text I submitted (Adam Jones has started to hit the ball the other way) until I saw this thread.
