Stephen Strasburg is pretty good
The legend of Stephen Strasburg continues to grow as Buster Olney has a piece on ESPN.com today which quotes a scout that he says "is not inclined to hyperbole" (take that for what it's worth) saying that Strasburg is the best pitching prospect ever. Before anybody asks, no, he couldn't fall all the way to the Giants because of signability concerns.

I would bet a good deal of money that the Nationals take him
But the Wieters comparison is true in the sense that even in absolute unbelievably worst case scenario (the economy renders teams broke to the point that they are on the brink of relocating or folding, Boras demands not a penny under $20 million and for him to pitch him in MLB the day after he signs) the one team that is guaranteed to pick him is the Orioles at #5.

I was being facetious in response to a facetious question. There’s no way that the Nationals don’t sign him.

Nats have the overall #1 and believe the #10 pick also. Of course they should select and sign Strasburg but the cost is going to be prohibitive. Then they need to also sign the #10 pick which should be another $2MM or so signing bonus.
They should pony up and sign Strasburg and either Crow/Scheppers. Both of their picks could be pitching in front of Obama in 2010.
If signing Strasburg means they have to basically punt on their # 10 pick (like take a 2nd round talent who will sign for 2nd round money) then so be it

So this is only through 3 starts for Strasburg this year, but still. Ridiculous.
