Open Gameday Thread, 3/9
The Giants have a baseball team. Brewers make beer. The Giants features Barry Zito, which makes us drink more, and the Giants play a team named "the Brewers" today.
I'm pretty sure that doesn't make sense, but it doesn't mean that it's not a conspiracy. Wake up, sheeple.

Clarification, please?
and the Giants play named “the Brewers” today.
This can be taken a couple of ways. Do you mean the Giants are staging a theatrical production called “The Brewers”? If that is the case, the “T” needs to be in uppercase.
OR!
Is there a set strategic play that the Giants will unveil during today’s game?

Beer post
What’s in your beer fridge? I’ve got a single Flying Dog Gonzo Porter sitting alone with about 9 Sierra Nevada Pale Ales.
Gonzo Porter is delicious. A year or so ago I got my hands on a magnum of the barrel-aged version—-it was like a thick dark-beer milkshake.
I’ve got a sixer of New Belgium 2 Below Ale.
With daylight savings time kicking in, does that mean it’s Beer O’Clock earlier in the day now?
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
All the New Belgium stuff that I’ve tried has been stellar! I think that Mothership Wit is as close to a perfect summer beer as you can get. 2 Below is good, but I would lean towards the Trippel if you are going for a Winter Warmer type beer.
IMHO, of course!

Oh I’m aware that 8% isn’t huge but in the world of bachelors who normally drink Bud/Miller/Coors/Keystone Light/Lite it’s a jump.
Next beer I’d like to try is Bigfoot Barleywine Ale, that’s more of a jump.

could somebody who is into this WBC explain to me why they are playing that game? Haven’t both team already qualified for the next round, and haven’t they already played each other?
by FluLikeSymptoms on Mar 9, 2009 12:14 PM PDT up reply actions
For seeding purposes. The next round – Pool 1 – the winner of Pool A Korea will play the second place team from Pool B.
why was Japan not the winner already? They went 2-0, Korea went 2-1, and Japan beat Korea. Playing an extra game seems stupid to me.
by FluLikeSymptoms on Mar 9, 2009 12:17 PM PDT up reply actions
Double Elimination
Japan then comes in second and will play the winner of Pool B – probably Cuba – in their first game
I still think it’s stupid and unnecessary. Japan should have already been the winner of the pool and should not have had to play this game.

Love. Love is the greatest gift God ever gave man. Love is not wanting to go anywhere without her. Love is not caring what other people think about the two of you. Love is when you feel depressed and sickly when you’re not with her. You feel like your life has no meaning or purpose without her. And that if she wasn’t holding your hand you would float away to heaven from where she came. Love is caring for her physically and emotionally. It’s telling her everyday, anytime, anywhere, anyhow, for no just reason that you love her. Love is telling her u want to spend the rest of your life with her. Love is wanting to marry her even tho ya’ll haven’t been dating that long. That you would do anything and everything for her. It’s the feeling that you would give up everything just to see her smile or look into her beautiful eyes or hear her soft, soothing voice. Love is pure happiness. Love is the feeling you get when all you have to do is think of her and it brings a smile to your face and a yourning to your heart. Love is not being able to think about nething but her. Love is having the sweetest dreams about her and waking up with a smile on ur face. Love is an overwelming feeling of pure bliss when the 2 of u kiss. Love is wanting to hold her in ur arms till the end of time. Love is wishing ur time with her never ends, that your lips would be locked together forever, that she’d be in ur arms till the end of time, that u could cuddle with her for all of eternity. Love is being helplessy and deeply in love with her and knowing your love for her and your feelings for her will never change/end. Love is the world, the world is love, and she is the world to me…

I called in sick to work that day, but they made me come in anyway because they were short staffed. So I was feeling lousy and sorry for myself all morning. Then I went out to lunch and got a sandwich from Togo’s. It tasted funny, which I thought was because I was sick and plugged up and had little appetite. In retrospect, however, it clearly had spoiled guacamole. When I got back to work, I had massive, massive butt pee. And vomiting. They let me go home early and never questioned my calling in sick again.

At least he’s not starting opening day this year. That’s been the worst since he came here, nice way to NOT start a season.
Mike Hampton, Denny Neagle, Barry Zito – a lot of the worst contracts ever are lefthanded starting pitchers, it seems.
