Joe Koshansky waived by Rockies
I don't know if the Giants had a shot at claiming him before the Rangers, but if they did, it was a mistake to let this guy get away.

No it wasn't
Koshansky was on an NL team, so the Giants definitely had a shot before the Rangers and they passed, as did every other NL team. Koshansky’s big numbers were put up in a stadium where my mom once hit 30 homers, so you really have to take them with a grain of salt. Besides, he’s a lefty and our starting first baseman is a lefty as well. If we’re going to need a first baseman with pop later this year then we’re going to need a righty, and Josh Phelps is the same player as Koshanksy, only he hits from the right side.
Goodbye Jack Taschner. Now Bochy has to find another reliever to make him look dumb
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the waiver order now just based on winning percentage — regardless of league?
Agreed
His MLE looks like Mike Jacobs with a bit less power. Pass.

Me thinks
36 HRs in A ball. Followed by 31 in AA, 21 and 31 in AAA is worth at least a tire kick or two. Possibly even a test drive in Fresno. I wouldn’t exactly call letting him get away a mistake though.
Baseball is a lot like life. The line drives are caught, the squibbles go for base hits. It's an unfair game. -Rod Kanehl
Why? Are the Giants so flush with prospects that he wouldn’t be worth a look in AAA?
Why isn't Sabean held accountable for leading the Giants into many years of mediocrity???
