The Giants have traded left-hander Jack Taschner to the Phillies for catcher Ronny Paulino. It appears Paulino will back up Bengie Molina and Steve Holm will open the season at Triple-A Fresno.

Taschner is excited about the deal. He had the longest continuous tenure of any player in the Giants organization, but he felt he hit a wall here and is looking forward to working with a new coaching staff on a team that is coming off a World Series championship.
